Formentera: where to weigh anchor and live “Sunrise to Sunset” in this Funky Free-Spirited island.

Tolerant and temptatious, the enclave of Ibiza is the tiara of the Balearics, but beyond a shadow of a doubt – its naturally-blessed, less-stressed little sis Formentera is the Spanish archipelago’s most precious gem.

Just an hour cruise from the White Isle, first forays to Formentera are frequently from day-trippers dashing over on luxury charters and private yachts, given that, the 19-kilometer-wide oasis has no airport. But, what it does have is allure – bursting with inconceivable natural beauty and blissful greenish-blue cyan seas kissing the coastline. One trip is all it takes to fall in love at first sight!

To let that first-day Formentera love shine through, we recommend doing it the right way, weighing anchor at – Espalmador, Illetes and Cala Saona. The Natural Geographic-worthy destinations are sure to captivate with their out-of-sight delights.

1- Formentera, S’Espalmador

Our first stop as the dawning rays continue their shiny upward rise is the uninhabited natural reserve Espalmador (named after “espalmar” the action of performing boat maintenance), located under a minute’s motorboat whirl away from the Formentera shore. The symbolic lighthouse and three-kilometer ring-shaped stretch of unspoiled wonderland is divided by a sandbar, or tombolo, described as a cushiony reef connecting two areas, otherwise separated by a body of water.

Formentera Espalmador

Back in 2018, a Luxemburg family bought the private island for €18 million and must abide by all state and regional laws governing the use of the space which forbids any form of construction. The prior owners, brother and sister Norman and Rosy Cinnamond, had inherited the precious piece of real estate from their grandfather.

Bedecked by groves of juniper canopied dunes, Espalmador’s shallow baby-blue lagoon and crescent-shaped pale rose-white beach S’alga, is a landmark for large luxury yachts. In the height of summer, the size of the crowds is even larger than the watercrafts. The main draw is slathering on layers of sulfur-mud S’algo which has been made famous for its beneficial healing properties on the skin. Once the caked-on concoction from your visit starts to work its rejuvenating wonders, and those lingering Ibiza hangovers begin to fade… it’s less than 200 meters from Espalmador to stop number two, the paradisiacal Platja de ses Illetes.

2- Platja de ses Illetes

Chosen as one of the best beaches in the world and “the most favorite” of Formentera, whether touching ground or simply lilo-lounging in the seemingly endless Caribbean-esque sound, Illetes has more than earned its flagship status. Situated within Ses Salines de Eivissa and Formentera Natural Park on the Es Trucadors peninsula, the chain of dunes and flat rocks running into the 500-meter powdered-sugar-soft shores seduces with a bonus double- panoramic snapshot of neighboring Espalmador; and in the distance Es Vedrà, the imperial rock having garnered its own IYM write-up.

Just as popular and embracing as soaking up some sunshine is time spent soaking up the atmosphere, sipping chilled bubbly and dipping that fork into the paella for a second serving at Juan y Andrea, the see-and-be-seen institution established in 1971.

Platja de ses Illetes Formentera

Before summoning for tender service (VHF Channel 74) or jaunting over in your rubber inflatable to the all-white beachside haunt housed under four large swaying palms and the instantly recognizable Pacha-branded, double-cherry flag … two things not to forget are: making advance reservations (+34 971 1187 130) and taking the Visa credit card with the highest limit; lunch and libations don’t come cheap.

3- Formentera, Cala Saona

Expanding on the Ibiza-intro precious stone analogy – simply put, our final destination Cala Saona, is the crown jewel of the Formentera tiara. Capping off the day after a sensational start at Espalmador and action-filled afternoon at one of the best beaches in the world… Cala Saona brings to the table its own bragging rights, having earned the vote for one of the most astonishing sunsets on the planet.

Unlike the flat, open beaches for sunning and funning around the isle, Cala Saona, sits sheltered by burnt orange colored cliffs in a horseshoe-shaped cove, dusted in red soils and dotted by plentiful pines. The electrifying connection between the warm tones and majestic turquoise Med deem it irresistible.

Cala Saona

Come evening time, the illuminating sensation is only further enhanced by the sky’s kaleidoscope of pinks and purples melding into a mural of red and gold, as the sun does its final performance of the day dropping beyond the horizon. Beside the serenity and peace, the best part is that peak summer sunsets don’t happen until close to 21:00 p.m. With a soundtrack of perfectly pitched chill-out beats and a batch of mojitos, could you ask for anything more?

At the end of the day one thing is for certain, basking in the glory of funky, free-spirited Formentera from sunrise to sunset – the smallest of the Balearics, is guaranteed to evoke the biggest smiles!

New High-Tech Wave Attenuator Signals Smooth Sailing for NY’s Top-Tier One 15 Brooklyn Marina .

For the nautical set not familiar with boating on New York waters – the East River is as bustling as Times Square – but exhibiting traits consistent with that of a tidal strait, it’s not always in a nice and welcoming way.

one 15 Brooklyn Marina overviewThe new One 15 Brooklyn Marina found this out less than a year after its 2016 grand opening.

The deluge of colliding currents building up multi-directional momentum from the crossroads of the rivers and the Atlantic Ocean were wreaking havoc on the facility and the watercrafts moored along the quays.

Consequently, the writing was on the (sea)wall for an overhaul!

Lamentably, the marina’s initial protective shield was only deflecting a portion of wave energy back into the river and failed to reduce the tidal impact hammering through the aperture under the piers. A restructuring with extensive sustainable design elements was in order to prevent further irremediable damage.

One 15 Brooklyn Marina: Tide and Traffic Troubles

But the tides don’t tell the whole story. The river is a melting pot of moving crafts cutting their own courses with distinct “coming and going turning points.” For example, the daily cavalcade consists of: commercial freighters and tug boats; Jet-skiers chasing the transom chop from the many recreational vessels and sightseeing cruises crammed with selfie-snappers; the FDNY and PDNY 911-style dashing between destinations; and not to forget the non-stop (and I mean non-stop) low-hovering helicopters shuffling the suited CEOs back and forth to their Manhattan meetings.

One15 brooklyn marina main dockHowever, as hectic as the above sounds, the true “turning point” came in 2017 when the high-speed ferries increased the frequency of their services, further heightening the persistent rolling wave action. LITERALLY!

An engineering team was brought in and their high-tech analysis and testing on how best to combat the volatile condition resulted in steel wave attenuators set on deep draft steel barges as the solution.

This combination cushions the marina basin with a gentler undulation by reducing the size and energy of incoming swells and eliminating unnecessary wave movement.

Saved by Steel

One 15 Brooklyn Marina CEO Estelle Lau tells me, “The marina was initially designed using all Seaflex anchoring but we found that the increased boats and ferries on the waterfront were too powerful for the system. So we built the new attenuators using the same concept as the New York ferry landings, putting piles in to further strengthen the system – doubling the width and tripling the depth of the attenuator.”

One 15 brooklyn marina Craning inSingapore-based SUTL Group, noted for its stunning marinas across Asia, and the consulting firm TMS Waterfront, were responsible for reconstructing the eight-acre facility which today features 102 slips accommodating boats up to 300 feet including deep draft ocean-going superyachts. Since re-opening in May of 2019, the $28 million dollar multi-phase design project has yielded continual praise and positive results; nonetheless, it was met with a series of challenges along the way which were to be expected:

1- Addressing environmental concerns and securing all necessary permits became a lengthy process entailing SBS, Army Corp, Environmental Agency and MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) involvement.

2- The position of the R subway train running under the facility required a reduction in piles near the tunnels and prevented the use of anchoring and cables.

3- Taking all precautions, a sophisticated monitoring system had to be installed to avoid the impact area of the tunnels during the pile driving along the attenuator.

4- Disruptions to the summer operations at the marina needed to be minimized.

The engineering crew was resilient in complying with the compulsory rules and restrictions mandated during the course of the daunting infrastructure refurbishment. First, the large concrete blocks initially installed to anchor the docks were repurposed to the inside dock on the marina’s south side. Next, two 185-foot steel barges dubbed as Little Bear One and Little Bear Two, and Polaris the third goliath-in-size 300-footer with a 30-foot beam and 10-foot draft, were secured to the seabed floor, followed by ballasting down the attenuators on piles and driving them into the bay.

A Cheerful Pier

4th-of-JulyPreserving the panorama projected from the backdrop of the Big Apple’s south side thanks to careful placement of the pilings was another defining achievement of the high-profile project. Yet, there was more to cheer about than the view.

Given that the marina is home to the Community Dock, it offers a selection of low-cost programs and activities allowing locals to interact one-on-one with the harbor, making it accessible for all to navigate whether you’re a boat owner or not.

The leading players in boating: Giorgio Casareto

Behind the shining world of yachting, which many tend to see only as an icon of luxury, lies the hard work of many people who have contributed to making this sector unique and inimitable over the years. One of these people is undoubtedly Giorgo Casareto, Director of Marina di Varazze (and more), who in over fifty years of life has dedicated time, talent and dedication to the boating industry with the rare ability to always succeed in putting himself on the line and with the added value of having really started from the bottom to rise to the highest levels. A whole life dedicated to the world of the sea, which we wanted to collect and bear witness to in this video in which the Editor-in-Chief of The International Yachting Media Luca D’Ambrosio interviews Giorgio Casareto.

Our chat with Casareto goes back a long way, to the very origins of his passion for the sea, which began at the tender age of five when he went out with his parents on a small sailing boat. Later, with the purchase of a larger boat, Mr. Casareto began to undertake longer navigations, such as a tour of Corsica or a voyage to Barcelona: a love that became work when Giorgio was first employed in a small boatyard as a worker and then at Azimut where he still works today. The Marina di Varazze director has very vivid memories of his apprenticeship, which are also fun to listen to, such as his first job scraping the hull of a boat that was then immediately dismantled.

Giorgio Casareto“An incredible adventure began at Azimut, one that I would never have imagined would have reached its current goals,” says Giorgio Casareto in our video interview. “I went from working as a factory worker to after-sales and sales, until I was asked to set up the new Savona office, which I ran until 2008. After that I moved to the historic Avigliana plant, until 2011, when a new path began in Marina di Varazze, where they needed a person to take over the management of the company”.

In short, a story that starts with a humble job and ends with great professional satisfaction. This is why Giorgio Casareto’s advice to young people who would like to enter the boating sector is to “really believe in it”. In fact, he explains, “many young people with a passion for the sea can achieve extraordinary results, but my advice is always to start from the bottom: even if you have a respectable school education, getting to know this sector starting from the lower levels helps a lot to learn how to manage it”.

But we don’t want to anticipate anything else about the interview, so we invite you to watch the video, where you can get to know Giorgio Casareto not only from a professional point of view but also from a human one; that is, the side made up of memories and anecdotes from which there is always something to learn.

“…Indi i monti Ligustici, e riviera / che con aranci e sempre verdi mirti / quasi avendo perpetua primavera…”. The perpetual spring of which Ludovico Ariosto tells us in Orlando Furioso is to be found on the Riviera dei Fiori, in that part of western Liguria which enjoys favourable and mild atmospheric conditions where a microclimate that is almost always sunny, not very rainy and protected from the north winds by the mountain chain of the Alps, extends from Capo Mimosa, in the territory of the municipality of Cervo, to the mouth of the Rio San Luigi, in the municipality of Ventimiglia. This perimeter, which reaches as far as the French border, is home to Marina di San Lorenzo, in San Lorenzo al Mare, in the province of Imperia.

Marina di San Lorenzo vista porto

It is a true resort for yachts and – as of this year – superyachts of up to 40 meters in length. There are 260 berths protected by a breakwater, internally quaied and parallel to the coast for 500 meters, with a reef breakwater on the sea side, and by a breakwater below. The harbour is accessed from the intersection of the two piers to the south-west. A protected and magical bay, as they like to call it, which will make transit and life in the port an experience, as well as a functional station. There are seven piers and a draft of 4 metres. The port facility is very luxurious and built in harmony with the territory, the area is free of traffic, easy to access and with adjacent car parks that allow you to arrive by car right next to your boat. The beautiful and intimate coastal village of San Lorenzo al Mare is just a few minutes away and is connected to the port by a seafront promenade, including a cycle path, and it is also possible to hire your own bike for an excursion into the centre.

The recent restyling of the marina allows for the latest generation of electricity columns and the new moorings for superyachts are located opposite the Management on the main quay. The marina is out of the city, yet close to it, to guarantee tranquillity, privacy and peace for owners, but also services and efficiency. Far from the hustle and bustle and noise pollution, the Marina di San Lorenzo has, among its priorities, the objective of a peaceful holiday away from prying eyes for its owners.

Marina di San Lorenzo stanza hotel

The attentive services are expressed both in the beauty of the port area and in the luxury Hotel Riviera dei Fiori, a 4-star accommodation facility capable of welcoming Marina di San Lorenzo guests in the 43 rooms available. The hotel also offers bar service, restaurant, bathing establishment with private beach, bike rental and Private SPA Jacaranda, whose entrance includes sauna, steam bath, emotional shower, Jacuzzi, bathrobe and slippers and – why not (?) – a complimentary bottle of prosecco.

The hotel has a pagoda structure, the rooms are all surrounded by greenery, and enjoy an incomparable view of the sea: in fact, they overlook partly the private beach, located in a natural inlet of the coast, and partly the port. In short, a 4-star hotel where you can really see the stars at night.

Marina di San Lorenzo Hotel

While owners are pampered by the hotel services, the yachts and life on board are also well looked after. The services on offer are excellent: 24-hour, seven-day-a-week mooring assistance, private covered garages, a private beach, provisioning, 24-hour surveillance, a refuelling service, a golf and shopping shuttle bus and a gym.

The presence of the shipyard ensures particularly attentive treatment for boats in need of assistance, and all kinds of services are available there. San Lorenzo al Mare Cantieri offers hauling and launching, refitting and rebuilding, indoor storage, ordinary and extraordinary maintenance services, specialized technical assistance on all types of marine engines, and is also an authorized Volvo Penta workshop. Yacht Master Italia, a partner of the marina, provides charter, refitting, rope splicing and yacht sales services.

The marina is also an exclusive and decidedly cutting-edge location for dynamic sports in contact with nature: it is possible to play golf on professional courses – such as the Castellaro Golf Resort -, sailing, tennis, trekking and diving schools. Also in 2021 San Lorenzo al Mare is confirmed as FEE Blue Flag, a certification that guarantees a very high quality of services.

Renamed Adriatic 42, corresponding to the shipyards latitude. Located in one of the world’s safest natural harbours, Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor.

This joint venture is being headed up by Paul John Grey as appointed Executive Director. Adriatic Marinas will invest approximately €20 million over the first three years. The project involves the design and construction of new infrastructure and redevelopment of existing facilities. The new state-of-the-art shipyard will be able to accommodate the world’s largest superyachts.

The assessment stage is currently in full swing with mandatory investigations, analysis and assessments. Gray has also told the press, “as part of the DP World Group, we are committed to reducing harmful emissions and will do this through the smart use of alternative energy sources and new, more energy-efficient equipment.”

On completion of this assessment stage, phase one of the development will see testing the existing infrastructure, integrity analysis, work on anchor points, construction of a Travel Hoist jetty, rehabilitation of the South Jetty and refurbishment of the existing superstructure.

Just across the bay, in this idyllic location, Porto Montenegro offers a world-class, full-service 450-berth marina with luxury amenities and services. Alongside developing Adriatic 42, Porto Montenegro will continue hosting its success of scheduled events for the coming year. The 2022 season will include many, such as the annual Superyacht Winter Games, Superyacht Business Weekend, a jazz festival, the Superwine festival, an International Fashion Festival, Polo in the Port.

The Marina di San Lorenzo recreational port is ready, properly updated according to the state-of-the-art standards, the result of a thorough restyling which now invites the owners to enjoy its nautical “One Thousand and one nights”-style elixirs. The marina’s facilities have been updated, along with the services designed for safe and pleasant mooring. The atmosphere is fairy-tale, the well-aligned palm trees on the pier ashore symmetrically mark the course of the boats’ masts; this is Marina di San Lorenzo, a marine oasis for niche yachting, standing distinctly on its stretch of sea between Sanremo and Imperia.

The restyling is intended for those seeking the harmony, tranquillity and privacyMarina di San Lorenzo needed in such a refined location. Another of the marina’s predisposition is undoubtedly towards welcoming hospitality, dedicated to yachts and superyachts, and there is no lack of satisfaction. The excellence here is also motivated by the awarding of the Blue Flag, attributed by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) programme again this year for the quality of the beaches and services at the Marina di San Lorenzo.

The owner therefore comes to the Marina attracted by the wide range of activities offered, including sports, diving, sailing instruction and onshore excursions.

Furthermore, there is the Hotel Riviera dei Fiori located right in the port and overlooking the sea, also owned by the Marina, so the owner is certainly taken by the delights of the chef who oversees the restaurant’s menu full of traditional Ligurian dishes.

The range of choices also includes events in the enchanting Ligurian setting of Marina di San Lorenzo, which sets the pace perfectly between Sanremo and Imperia. Autumn food and wine events such as Olioliva with tastings of genuine products, and those linked to the nautical world such as the International 420 Worldchampionship at Marina degli Aregai, where sails from all over the world converge. Vele D’epoca (Vintage Sails), in Imperia from 2 to 5 September, is also the ritual appointment of the most fantastic sailing ships, which has been held for 30 years and is not to be missed.

Marina di San LorenzoServices and living life

The Marina, however, offers so much more and it is that more that you do not see but feel. Perhaps it is the private beach, the atmosphere of a relaxing but at the same time stimulating location. Maybe it’s the wonderful regional context: the jasmine, the purple bougainvillea, the scent of Ligurian lemons emerging from the fabulous Mediterranean flora, and the medieval centre of San Lorenzo al Mare, rich in culture, just a five-minute walk from the port. Maybe it’s because the Riviera of Flowers is the backdrop to the Marina, which is served by a 24-kilometre-long cycle path that will extend to Imperia when the work is completed. And the Ligurian Sea is its balcony of water, the Marina di San Lorenzo protects itself from the changing nature ofMarina di San Lorenzo the sea with due circumstance, thanks to a large breakwater that presides over the safety of moorings facing land. Yes, a great deal of safety if you think of Marina di San Lorenzo as being arranged in a comb-like pattern, with the quays following one another from west to east, where it is easy to moor without suffering the anguish of incoming maritime traffic. And close by there are also Sanremo, Monte Carlo, the Cote d’Azur, while on the opposite side continues the brilliant Gulf of Genoa; so the choice of maritime destinations, all beautiful, becomes almost embarrassing for the owner who sets his bow on Marina di San Lorenzo.

The marina can accommodate 260 boats up to 40 meters in length, with all the main services included: mooring assistance at all hours, the nearby shipyard, an authorised Volvo Penta workshop, surveillance, Wi-Fi, fuel, travel lift, refitting, rebuilding and parking, including covered parking places.

The all-new Marina di San Lorenzo is the perfect option even for superyachts

There is a new air in the Marina in San Lorenzo al Mare, because it has been newly restyled and changed its look in an even more convincing way, with more graceful forms that now make the port routine even more pleasant for everyone.

Porto liguriaThe Marina has been designed and built according to the latest criteria with a view to reducing its energy impact. The marina offers the latest generation of electricity columns and new berths for superyachts are safely located on the main quay right in front of the Management. In fact, the recent restyling is looking at superyachts, making the Marina’s berths available to yachts from 26 to 40 metres, which moor in the more protected quay. And there’s more: because the ‘Thousand and One Nights’ formula dedicated to superyachts is the Marina di San Lorenzo’s latest idea. The invitation to transit is therefore reserved for boats from 35 to 40 metres, and to make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity it is a good idea to check with the Marina.

Marina di San Lorenzo: all the novelties available on the website

The Marina’s offer is also well-detailed online through a website in English and Italian, which has now become state-of-the-art. Divided into several categories, which can be consulted via an interactive menu, the website features, among other things, the very practical “Sail safely with Meteomed” section, which is characterized by regular updates on the state of the sea, wind, warnings, and weather with live satellite images.

Marina di San Lorenzo at Cannes and Genoa boat shows

Further news: Marina di San Lorenzo will have its own booth at the 61st Genoa Boat Show from September 16-21 (booth YE25) and another (booth 111) at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 7-12. Two more reasons to head for the Riviera of Flowers.

The summer route leads to Marina di Portisco,  which welcomes guests in Covid-free mode to guarantee a sustainable holiday in freedom.

Thanks to its strategic position at the entrance of the enchanting Gulf of Cugnana, the natural gateway to the Emerald Coast in north-western Sardinia, Marina di Portisco is the ideal starting point for sailing and exploring the Maddalena archipelago as far as Corsica in the north and along the south-west coast of Sardinia as far as Tavolara. Gallura is a unique area, a corner of paradise between land and sea, offering emotions and opportunities for an unforgettable holiday.

Marina di Portisco by night: shops, bars and restaurants welcome guests to relax after a day at sea

Naturally sheltered and further protected by a three-leg breakwater and an elbow breakwater, Marina di Portisco has 589 berths for sailing and motor-powered boats of up to 90 meters in length in deep water with a high draught. At Marina di Portisco, environmental sustainability is good practice. In fact, for the past 25 years, the facility has been awarded the Blue Flag, which is assigned every year on the basis of strict parameters dictated by FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education). This is a real record and an acknowledgement that certifies the concrete commitment, professionalism and sensitivity of the staff to the issues and sustainable management of the facility, as demonstrated by the services and various initiatives undertaken over the years.

The entire port area is plastic-free, and annual water requirements are met using a Tobago Solaris Aquae reverse osmosis watermaker, which produces over 50,000 m3 of water/year. Numerous electric vehicle recharging stations are regularly installed, together with a new generation lighting system that allows significant energy savings. Waste collection, which is also available for boats moored in the harbour, is managed with an efficient recycling system and is part of the chain of sustainability elements that contribute to the reduction of CO2 production.

In addition to the vaccination of all staff, all anti-Covid measures have been adopted at Marina di Portisco in accordance with the regulatory framework to combat and contain the spread of the virus in environments open or not open to the public. The detailed protocol of safety measures to be taken by employees, boaters and visitors to the port in any capacity is available at www.marinadiportisco.it

Marina di Portisco is home to a large fleet of sailing and motor yachts dedicated to chartering, another unmissable opportunity for those who choose the charter formula to sail freely north or south. Olbia airport is only 16 km away and connects Marina di Portisco with all the main Italian and European cities.

Beaches

North-western Sardinia is full of corners of paradise, large beaches and small coves that

allow you to spend hours and hours in absolute tranquillity at any time of the year. Even in the most crowded of summers, in fact, it is possible to find an exclusive space by sea or by land. Some of these beaches are in the surroundings of Marina di Portisco.

Celvia, for example, is a beach characterized by a distinctive coarse-grained sand mixed with multicoloured shells that contrast with the turquoise waters. Its shallow waters are ideal for snorkelling enthusiasts. The suggestive beach of Piccolo Pevero is characterised by fine white sand and emerald green water, with the Li Nibani islands on the horizon and the beach of the Grande Pevero, a crescent-shaped strip of white sand that contrasts with the crystal clear waters.

The Prince’s Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia, owes its name to Prince Aga Khan’s alleged preference for this little corner of paradise. A large arch of sand, divided in two by a small group of granite rocks, the fine sand and the colours of the sea ranging from emerald green to turquoise, characterize it in an unforgettable way.
Liscia Ruja Beach, one of the largest and also one of the most beautiful beaches on the Emerald Coast, is located between Portisco and Cala di Volpe. Its name comes from the reddish colour of the shoreline, due to the erosion of the granite rocks along the coast. Long and very wide, Liscia Ruja is composed of a pleasant alternation of adjoining coves. Finally, Portisco Beach, located a few hundred metres from the marina, is bordered by a rocky tongue with a white sandy shoreline characterised by small outcropping rocks and a shallow sea bed that makes the beach suitable for children.

Sailing northwards, a handful of miles separates Marina di Portsico from the Maddalena Archipelago, which consists of 7 major islands (La Maddalena, Caprera, Budelli, Santo Stefano, Santa Maria, Spargi and Razzoli) and several islets, all bathed by a wonderful, transparent sea. Declared a National Park in 1994, the archipelago is certainly one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of Sardinia.
The Maddalena Archipelago National Park covers over 20,000 hectares of land and sea, encompasses 180 km of coastline and includes over 60 islands, large and small, mostly granite, shaped over time by wind and currents.
The park is part of the European network of areas of environmental excellence and is extremely well protected: boating, fishing and diving are permitted but must be authorized. It is an evocative and fascinating landscape in terms of morphology and flora. There are almost a thousand plant species, about 50 endemic and others extremely rare. The fauna is very particular. The Rosa di Budelli beach is very famous and protected, and takes its colour from the sediments of a small organism that adheres to shells, algae, corals and shells. Characteristic is the Pinna nobilis, the largest bivalve mollusc in the Mediterranean. The bottlenose dolphin is the most common cetacean, and groups of up to 30 may be spotted.Another common encounter in the park is with the loggerhead turtle. Among the birds, the Corsican seagull and the tufted plover dominate.
The Maddalena Archipelago Park is the ideal destination for boat trips and diving in a sea that ranges from emerald to turquoise, from azure to deep blue. A unique feature of the landscape is its inlets and coves, which create a myriad of natural harbours, allowing you to find a safe haven in any sea or wind conditions.

Among the larger islands, Caprera is famous for having hosted Garibaldi during his exile: his house is now a museum open to the public. The archipelago’s only inhabited centre is La Maddalena, founded in 1770 and long a base for the Italian Navy. Since 1967, Caprera has also been home to the sailing school of the same name, based on the values and traditions of Italian seafaring.

President  Keusseoglou also thanked Camille Gottlieb ” for accepting to be the godmother of Monaco One, we are all very honored. I would like to take this opportunity to announce that with Monaco One, SEPM will establish a partnership with the BE SAFE association, of which she is president. This association has a particularly noble purpose and we are very happy to offer our contribution.”

Two minutes and eleven seconds of pure emotions. Spectacular images that describe the Marina Porto Antico in all its beauty. A clip that fully illustrates the strategic geographical location of one among the most important recreational ports in Liguria, Italy.

Made by BLive Communication, a prestigious agency specialized in the yachting and luxury sectors, the video shows the Marina Porto Antico in its best light. The marina is famous all over the Mediterranean for its location in the beating heart of Genoa, just opposite the historic center and just a few miles from the most beautiful and exclusive seaside resorts of the region, such as San Fruttuoso, Portofino and the fishing villages of Cinque Terre.

A perfect combination of territorial enhancement and efficient port services, Marina Porto Antico offers 270 berths for boats from 10 to 75 meters in length, 10,000 square meters of squares and two covered parkings seven days a week.

Highlights of the area’s beauty in the Marina Porto Antico video

Until a few years ago, from a communicative point of view, must attention was paid to the services that marinas could offer – explains Andrea Barbagelata, President of Marina Porto Antico – Today, instead, services are taken for granted and the marina is considered as a gateway to the surrounding territory. As a result, the boat is used not only to sail but also to explore the surrounding landscape”.

Through the news posted on their Facebook page, the articles published on the marina’s website and some elegant brochures, the staff of Marina Porto Antico underlies the opportunity for the guests to visit what surrounds the marina: from the city center with its many cultural and leisure attractions, including the adjacent Aquarium of Genoa, to the Ligurian hinterland, with its gorgeous nature and pristine views, passing through the cycle paths of the Apennines, the Antola Park and the Beigua Park.

Marina Porto Antico Video (3)

” From a maritime point of view, as you can see in the video, our visitors can explore many nearby and enchanting villages. Mooring their boat in our marina all year round, they have the opportunity to join the numerous local events that take place in the various seasons, including the Fish Festival held in spring in Camogli or the Fire Festival in Recco in September “.

As a recreational port focused on the concept of territoriality, the marina strongly advises the visitors to try or rediscover the traditional Ligurian cuisine with its delicious fish recipes.

Not surprisingly, the marina is surrounded by many fish markets, with the fleet of fishing boats landing directly at the municipal dock and the well-known zero-kilomter Fish Market. “Of course, our marina also offers a wide selection of restaurants and bars that also offer local dishes”.

In short, mooring at Marina Porto Antico “means not only entrusting your boat to our skilled staff – concludes Andrea Barbagelata – but also using it as a base or, if you prefer, a second home overlooking both the sea and the hinterland”.
