Qu’s Milan-based showroom opens its doors to us. Interview with Chiara Marzucco

Qu The circle shape has always been a symbol of harmony, completeness and perfection. This element has been used over the centuries with different meanings which, however, have always recalled the same concept: a space where energies, linked to the universe and its dynamics, can be recalled, a protected space that refers to absolute perfection.

It is indeed a circle, more precisely a circle of light, that welcomes guests to the Qu showroom in Via Cernaia 7 in Milan, guests who, enveloped in a light that is at times softer, at times brighter, are about to visit the temporary installation “Infinitude. A circular lighting experience”.

An organic and integrated circular project that embraces the garden and the interiors, where light is the common thread of the experience: a concept by Parisotto + Formenton Architetti that stems from the desire to provide visitors with a complete sensory experience. Light and sound complement each other and converge in suggestions capable of taking one elsewhere as far as the cosmos.

Waiting for us in this circle of light is Chiara Marzucco, former Vice President & Marketing Director at Quick Spa, who saw in the company’s Quick Lighting branch an opportunity to be relaunched, to the point of making it take on, with Qu, a dimension of its own.

A long light ribbon guides the visitor through the courtyard; circles of light mark the garden as stages of the tour, intersecting with the trees present, and becoming signs, seats and patterns created by the light on the ground.

QuWhat is the conceptual approach in Qu’s design idea?

“This year we said: we make a product, designed by architects and designers, but what we want to show is not necessarily the product. What we want instead is to make people have an experience. After various brainstorms we landed on this concept of the circle, which is one of the primary forms that, unlike others, is very democratic: it unites.

Then we combined this concept with the motion of light. At certain times there are very slow scenarios, and the light changes together with the music; we created a 15-hour scenario that varies very slowly, and each time it gives different suggestions, combining a very warm light with an amber one, while the counterfield is made of very cold light.

A nonsense in itself which, in this case however, makes sense because you don’t see the source, but you perceive this cold cloud behind it that is lunar, spatial: and here we connect to another theme, sounds. These sounds we hear are from the samplings made available by NASA, sounds from space, noises from galaxies and frequencies.

The guys from the Elion projectproject, who took care of this part, went and took different types of sounds depending on the time of day, so that in the morning or in the middle and warmer hours they came from Mars and the Sun, in the cooler hours of the morning, from the Moon, and later in the evening, from far away from the Earth.

This year’s concept revolves precisely around orbit, a dialogue between man and the space around.

No product is mentioned. Products are installed of course, like the Magritte, where again the concept of the circle returns, but that is not the focus. . In my opinion, light is not about selling a product, it is about union in one’s home, living a different experience depending on the time of day

QuWhat distinguishes Qu from the market?

‘Let’s say that we wanted to distance ourselves a little from the classic product concept. Last year we used 3/4 families of lighting fixtures on the outside of the garden, and inside the same products are ‘exploded’ on a table: we did this as a provocation. As if to say: you see these are iron, electronics and cables, but these are elements that everyone has.

What changes is everything the company can do to either support the customer and/or give a vision in terms of light, giving support to the architect or designer, to achieve exactly what they had in mind’

More generally, in Qu’s concept, where does your inspiration come from?

‘From everything that comes into our hands every day Certainly we are connected to the theme of art, which is very dear to our company.

The real inspiration comes from the experience we have every day, when someone submits a problem to us. From there we start and from there we mutate, we change. Then we are going very fast, we don’t keep a single course, we mutate according to the challenges we are faced with.

I think we have found our dimension for now, but we are still changing a lot and we will continue to change a lot in the next three to four years’.

Two special works in which you were involved were the Cavalsassi school in Rome and the Nuove Cantine Italiane in Verona.

Here the light is almost poetic, it takes us into a story, what work does light do in contexts like these?

‘Light in my opinion is something that can enrich a project, and relying on an expert like a lighting designer is a very good idea, especially if he in turn has the foresight to rely on a company that can support him in his ideas.

In the case of Nuove Cantine Italiane, the set-up was done by Filippo Bricolo, a brilliant architect from Veneto, who needed to create this very imposing structure; it was a bit unusual because it was not flat, but had two planes that created a corner, and he wanted to create a light that could be integrated into the display itself.

We needed a light that could illuminate the works without someone standing in front of them casting a shadow for themselves. We worked well with Filippo, he provided us with the space to stand in and his design idea, and gave us a lot of space on achieving the desired effect.

In the case of Cavalsassi it was a bit of the same thing. Marco Ferrelli took care of the project, and in that case we had to give value to this beautiful 1920s villa, but without interfering with the beauty of that historic building.

We worked from behind in the negative, to give accents on the windows, working with colours that could be completely integrated with the beam tubes. But you can hardly perceive where the light is coming from, which was the effect we were looking for.

You work in all situations, indoors, outdoors, public spaces, offices, residences. Is there an environment you particularly like?

For me, the outdoors is very beautiful and interesting. There is so much you can do, it is an environment that has been much more appreciated in the last 2/3 years. When we were looking for our showroom, the first thing I looked for was a place with a garden.

QuThere is interaction between the elements outdoors. We do organic, biophysical light and greenery, with light that does not also interfere, but goes to create something new. In my opinion, a garden can be experienced in many different ways, by day and by night, with the same kind of light. So yes, as far as I am concerned, the outdoors is definitely my favourite. Then I come a little bit from the sea, so…’.

Here, let’s take a boating parenthesis. It’s a sector where light basically means furnishing, having space, that’s also an interesting aspect, isn’t it?

‘Qu doesn’t work directly in the boating sector, but it is a sector that I know very well and which the Quick Lighting division follows In my opinion, unfortunately it is still often the case that boat lighting is very price-dependent. And that’s a pity because it’s hard to understand that a boat, a yacht or a superyacht can change a lot depending on the type of product being used.

Who knows, even Qu can create an identity in this sense’.

In conclusion, are there any future plans or particular ambitions that you have for the near or longer term future?

‘The first goal is not to disappoint. We are working and taking several projects abroad, so developing abroad with a dedicated showroom is near, but at the moment we are very focused on going step by step and experimenting.

We have plenty of time to grow, but right now the most important thing is not to disappoint expectations, everything else will come step by step. Besides, I’m superstitious!’

Tommaso Spadolini has unveiled the first details of a true floating masterpiece: a 90-metre sports superyacht with very distinctive lines resulting from a joint collaboration with the owner that led to an interior configuration and exterior styling that guarantee high levels of usability.

We have worked closely with the owner and his representatives to create a really head-turning design that responds to his three key requirements without sacrificing one iota of practicality – stated Tommaso SpadoliniCapable of speeds around 20 knots, this superyacht had to have the external form of a fast boat: something we have achieved with the strongly curved lines that dip towards the stern. Then we have emphasized proximity to the water by creating a lot of focus around the two-deck beach club and using lots of glass. The internal configuration of the boat has been carefully studied to create the maximum privacy for the owner”.

Tommaso Spadolini 90 metri concept

Fast lines were a key part of the brief, and from the first hand-drawn sketches, Spadolini conceived a powerful shear for the main deck, emphasized by two strong convex lines for the owner’s and upper decks. The necessary straight lines for bulwarks and decks are cleverly concealed by powerful, flowing curves that peak amidships before sweeping down towards the generous beach club.

The brief required two further key features: the design of the yacht should give guests the sense that they are in close contact with the sea. And it should enable the owner to maintain a high degree of privacy from other guests and crew.

At 90 metres long, Tommaso Spadolini’s design is distinguished by a large beach club area in the stern which, arranged over the lower and main decks, includes a 150 sq. m lounge area with twin fold-down balconies, a gym and bar, a sauna, massage and relaxation area. The bathing platform itself amounts to 65 sq. m and the main aft cockpit above fills another 150 sq. m, flooded with natural light thanks to the shorter overhangs of the deck above.

90 metri concept

The beach club also includes an infinity pool measuring 7 x 3m with a glazed bottom, suspended over the bathing platform, offering a unique view of the horizon. The connection to the water is further emphasized by the balconies outside the sliding doors of the upper lounge. The use of glass throughout the main and upper decks with full-height windows is also distinctive.

Attention to privacy was another of the key demands from the outset of this project, and Tommaso Spadolini has made every effort to meet this need, creating a dedicated owner’s deck and closely controlling access via stairs and lift. There are dedicated his n’ hers bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes, a wine cellar, and smoking room with humidor.

Discretion and privacy were a big part of the brief – explained Spadolini – We have developed enclosed structures for the stairs and separate crew access so that the owner can be completely cocooned on demand. Sound absorbing materials would be used in doors and bulkheads to ensure total confidentiality, without compromising on the really lavish series of private spaces.”

An outdoor lounge area and a saloon with a swimming pool in the bow complete the layout of the owner’s deck, the atrium of which can be delimited with specially insulated doors to prevent access to the owner’s flats and ensure maximum privacy. With regard to the cabins, it is impossible not to underline the size of the owner’s suite, which features a large bed with a 270-degree view towards the bow and a private lounge area.

The bow area also features six spacious guest cabins, including two VIP cabins. Forward again, there is room for a huge toy garage, which runs to a jet tender and multiple jet skis. The main tender garage can accommodate a 9m boat. A lounge area and a Jacuzzi are located aft, where several options for outdoor entertaining have been developed, including a barbecue area and an outdoor dining table.

Tommaso Spadolini’s design is a perfect combination of elegance and technology, with a focus on privacy and connection to the sea. Once completed, this 90-metre yacht will undoubtedly be a jewel that, whether at sea in the waves or in harbour, will be able to stand out.

We have spent many hundreds of hours refining the design of this yacht,” said Spadolini. “It is now ready to move to the next engineering stage. Though we are currently studying some larger designs for potential clients, this is the biggest yacht we have brought to such a stage of detail. It is very dear to me, like a member of the family.”

Her name is Pardo GT75 and she is the new flagship of Pardo Yachts, the brand of the Italian shipyard that, perhaps more than any other at the moment, is conquering important market shares. This success undoubtedly stems from the beauty of the yachts that Cantiere del Pardo, year after year and without missing a beat, has built, immediately selling out.

Certainly no exception to this postulate is the new Pardo GT75, an exciting 23-metre “weekender runabout” of unprecedented beauty, which “winks” at both the Walkaround models and the award-winning Endurance 60. This concept was strongly desired by Gigi Servidati, who conceived it by outlining its forms and functions, and then entrusted it to Nauta Design.

Coming up with different versions of the same model that meet the needs of different owners is not an easy task, which is why we asked Nauta Design, who are masters of refined design and efficient space planning,” says Gigi Servidati, President and product manager of Cantiere del Pardo – “The exterior and interior styling of the Pardo GT75 reflects Nauta’s hallmark preference for crisp and clean lines devoid of fussy detailing that matches our own pure design DNA”.

The brief behind the Pardo GT75 was to echo all the design traits of the GT52 – elegance, style, comfort, and performance – but stretch them to create a new flagship model available in Tender Garage and Beach versions, and GT or T-top (this last will complete the Pardo Yachts walkaround range),” says Massimo Gino, co-founder of Nauta Design – “The idea was to have owners experience the boat as a villa on the sea.”

Pardo GT75: Tender Garage or Beach? Nauta Design explains her genesis

The new Pardo GT75 is available in two main versions: Tender Garage and Beach. A solution designed to meet different needs, both practical and stylistic, and to design this boat as if it were a tailor-made fabric, sewn around the profile of its owner who, as we shall see, can even choose between the GT and T-Top variants.

The design process began with the Tender Garage version that has an aft deck on three cascading levels. On the lowest level a sofa facing to sea is integrated in between the stairs while the swim platform has a transformer-style access to the sea. On an intermediate level is a large sunbed that lifts up to reveal the tender garage underneath with room for a Williams 380.

The Beach version, on the other hand, whose name speaks for itself and which visually projects directly to the concept of a terrace by the sea, is different. The sofa disappears, leaving room for a large platform that offers all the space needed to enjoy a day at sea between relaxation and hobbies, and which turns into a sort of open-air hold, a bit like those on the now famous explorer yachts.

On both models it is then impossible not to notice the two ‘wings’ that, starting from the bulwarks, open downwards, dramatically increasing both the space available and the feeling of freedom they convey.

There are traditionally two drawbacks of having completely open aft decks on this size of boat: where to place the air intakes for the engine compartment, and the need for free-standing furniture that requires storage room when under way at speed,” Gino points out. “We solved both issues in a unique and elegant way by hiding the air intakes under the steps of the side wings and adding a fitted mattress on top for sunbathing so the deck furniture is integrated into the structure. Moreover, the wings can be inclined to serve as backrests.”

Pardo GT 75 Tender Garage o Beach comparison

Both the Tender Garage and Beach versions of the Pardo GT75 also have ample space on the foredeck for a C-shaped sofa facing forward and a large sundeck, while the Beach version also features a sliding glass panel that directly connects the owner’s cabin to the aft deck and offers a panoramic ‘villa by the sea’ view.

Here again there was a potential drawback” – says Gino –“If guests are socializing on the aft deck, the owner’s privacy is compromised. Of course, you can close the sliding glass door, but it’s much nicer to leave it open at anchor. So, we positioned a sofa relax area in front of the cabin stair with the master bed transversally positioned to one side and behind a sun blind – a simple solution that ensures a degree of privacy even if the door is open”.

Interior: Galley Up or Galley Down?

As was the case for the exterior design, Pardo Yachts also relied on Nauta Design for the interior to offer the ultimate in refinement and increase the options available to the customer. Not surprisingly, here too there are two different versions: Galley Up and Galley Down.

Apart from the differences between the two versions in terms of the owner’s cabins, the main difference lies in the galley, which in the Galley Down version is located on the lower deck near the lounge area amidships, while the Galley Up version has a lounge area amidships and the galley on the upper deck.

Furthermore, the Galley Down version has two double cabins with large ensuite bathrooms, while the Up version, designed for more family use, has up to four guest cabins, all with good-sized bathrooms and shower cubicles: different combinations are available, to accommodate two, three, or even four cabins, for a total of up to ten berths, hence maximum creativity and freedom of choice.

Acala is a 43-metre superyacht commissioned by an experienced yachtsman who wanted to explore every corner of the world. For this exploration superyacht, Cantiere delle Marche has collaborated with Horacio Bozzo Design studio for the first time.

Experience in building bespoke superyachts

A pure custom yacht, Acala takes full advantage of Cantiere delle Marche‘s experience and its approach to explorer yacht building.

It has been commissioned by an experienced yachtsman who, over years, owned luxury yachts and then become a repeat client for CdM, a yard which gained his full confidence having enjoyed the feel of comfort and safety of his previous Acala, a Darwin 102, cruising from the Med to the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic.

Cantieri delle Marche int 1

Acala: designed for remote exploring and demanding owners

Acala was designed by exploiting the Cantiere delle Marche’s ability to meet the needs of the most demanding customers and, for the first time, collaborating with the internationally renowned yacht design studio Horacio Bozzo Design.

Striking at first sight is her severe profile combined with the elegance of a luxury yacht that will stand the test of time. The side view of this superyacht is dominated by the large windows on the main deck, the mullions of which seem not to join the superstructure, giving a sign of discontinuity to the design.

The clean and somewhat austere lines of Acala, characterized by a protruding bow and a compact superstructure, are the foundation of the ‘explorer’ spirit combined with the elegance of a luxury yacht, resistant to time and fashion.

The displacement hull is designed by Sergio Cutolo/Hydro Tec, with a gross tonnage of 440GT to ensure comfortable sailing even in harsh weather and sea conditions and with a more than transoceanic range.

Luxury and all-comfort interior

Acala is designed to reach the farthest corners of the world and accommodate guests and crew for a long time: thus the owner’s request was for spacious, luxurious, comfortable, well-equipped and harmonious interiors.

Cantieri delle Marche int 2

The interiors of Cantiere della Marche’s superyacht, designed by Mexican architect Simon Hamui, are luxurious and relaxing at the same time, to make guests feel comfortable with both beach clothing or formally dressed for a dinner.

Guest areas are spread over three decks plus a Sun Deck. Acala features a nicely organized interior layout that sleeps twelve guests in six suites.

A large lobby sits in between the main salon and guest night quarters. The full beam Main deck, from amidship forward is dedicated to guests and Owners. Three large Vip and extremely comfortable Owner suite to starboard side are flooded by natural light from large windows. Two twin cabins are located on the Lower deck.

The crew has five cabins on the lower deck, alongside a roomy crew mess opposite a professional galley and the Captain has his own cabin on the Upper deck next to the helm station.

Exteriors: designed for all situations

A large and partially shaded Sun deck perfectly integrated into the profile provides the social hub for Acala’s guests with an al fresco dining, bar, vast sunbathing area alongside a second swimming pool. A dumbwaiter connects the galley located on the Lower deck to all deck, Sun deck included, to convey food and drinks and ease the work of crew.

Cantieri delle Marche Acala ext 2

For indoor entertainment, there is a lounge on the main deck and a large panoramic sky lounge with dining area on the upper deck.

For relaxation, on the other hand, a particularly large cockpit features dining and lounging areas, a swimming pool and lots of space to relax

Acala ‘s watchwords: independence and practicality

Acala is an explorer superyacht, built to reach those remote areas where assistance is almost impossible and you have to rely on what you have aboard.

The watchword in the mechanical design was independence, and the engine room is one of the sources of this independence: its equipment stands out for its cleanliness and functionality, with all systems and machinery set up for easy maintenance.

Acala has a full displacement naval architecture by Sergio Cutolo/Hydro Tec offering large volume (440GT) and the smoothest of travel even in rough seas ensuring excellent comfort and total safety. Engineering has been developed by the yard technical department in collaboration with Hydro Tec. Like all explorer yachts built by Cantiere delle Marche, the new addition features a thick and robust steel hull and light aluminium superstructure.

An expansive lazarette provides a very large storage area needed for many cruising necessities, water toys, diving equipment, etc. The main tender is stored on the Upper deck forward.

Cantiere delle Marche claims for Acala a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots and a top speed of 14 knots, thanks to the geometry of the hull, the 62 400-litre tanks and the extremely parsimonious consumption of the two Caterpillare C32 Acert engines of 746 kW each,

A detailed work and the debut of a prestigious collaboration

The Acala superyacht inaugurates a new collaboration with Horacio Bozzo Design who designed her lines.

The aim of our design work is the pleasure of seeing the owner’s desires taking shape and recognizing himself in it,” says Horacio Bozzo, yacht designer and naval architect –“Designing an explorer for an experienced owner who grew up around boats and understands yachting perfectly, is very gratifying. We started from a white piece of paper and brainstormed a lot with him to fulfil the whole family needs.”

Cantieri delle Marche Acala ext 3

I am delighted and proud with this milestone launch,” Vasco Buonpensiere, Cantiere delle Marche’s co-founder and Sales & Marketing Director, says – “The trust this owner confirmed in CdM gives us the highest reason for pride. It is a statement of appreciation for both our yachts and ourselves as a team always committed to the owner’s satisfaction. The mutual trust established between this client and CdM team has been pivotal to the good result of the whole process that led to the completion of such a complex project”

“Within our team we joke that we have built the smallest 80-metre yacht ever!” concludes Mr. Buonpensiere with humour.

Cantiere delle Marche’s strategy to dedicate one slot per year to fully custom projects proved to be successful and extremely important for the technical growth of the shipyard – Ennio Cecchini, CDM CEO says. “Building these one-off vessels is a great opportunity for our team to learn something new and to work out of its comfort zone: this is the only key to move forward and improve, in our opinion, and that’s why we opted for this strategy.

Being chosen by experienced owners such as this gentleman who decided to have his second yacht built by us, after having owned yachts built by the most reputed Northern European brands, is the best possible prove that our commitment, dedication, technical skills and quality are second to none.”

At this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, the word ‘sustainability’ resounded frequently through the halls, where a large number of improvements appeared in various sectors of the yachting industry to make engines, furnishings, consumption and much more sustainable.

While it is clear that behind this transition there is certainly an economic driver, which obviously has to be taken into account given the current historical period, there is also a sort of collective consciousness that is increasingly pushing both manufacturers and customers in this direction.

It was on this very basis that the Sustainability Conference organized by SYBAss (Superyacht Builders Association), together with the Water Revolution Foundation and the Superyacht Life Foundation, was held at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 in the Principality of Monaco.

At the centre of the panel, moderated by Tony Harris, Superyacht Industry Ambassador, were the developments that this sector is pursuing in order to make production processes more efficient and long-lasting, and what progress the superyacht industry is making in the field of sustainability.

Sustainability monaco SYBAss MYS

The Monaco Yacht Show was originally born under the banner of sustainability– confirmed Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show – We are committed to a more sustainable event, and we already have solutions in place. Moreover, the Sustainability Hub highlights sustainable solutions and projects that help reduce the superyacht environmental footprint with the support of the yachting industry and with the help of Water Revolution Foundation. The Hub has start-ups specialising in technology, solutions and eco-friendly concepts, and it is set to take a leading role in showcasing innovative and future superyachting solutions”.

“Yachting is the only maritime sector that has a dedicated non-profit organisation for tackling its environmental impact, and there’s a huge amount you can gain in terms of efficiency to share what has been worked on – and the results of – research and development,” said Robert van Tol of Water Revolution Foundation – “Where commercial ships just use the oceans to transport goods from A to B, yachting has an extra connection – it is our back garden. As an organisation we focus on reducing the negative impacts on the environment but also on ocean conservation, which is an opportunity to have a collective positive impact. This is a growing initiative and more and more companies are coming on board”.

SYBAss MYS

Philippe Briand presented technical detail on how yacht design can make a significant difference in the efficiency of vessel while Giedo Loeff, head of research and development at Dutch superyacht builder Feadship, focused on how Feadship’s research over the past 15 years has focused on the transition to renewable fuels: embodied by the recent Pure yacht concept, Feadship outlines a roadmap for 2030 that focuses on alternative fuels such as methanol and hydrogen.

Last but not least, Baltic Yachts CEO Anders Kurtén addressed the build side of the industry, outlining how Baltic Yachts has been taking steps to incorporate more renewable, recycled or alternative materials in yacht construction – for example, using flax in place of glass fibre or carbon in hull and frame construction.

A superyacht is a product that exists for one reason – to put a smile on the owner’s face – Mr. Kurtén enthused. “Seeing as the world is changing, we’d like to act in a way by which they can continue to buy a yacht with a good conscience. We believe that our customers represent about 0,003 percent of the global population but as they control 15 percent of global assets, their actions are lighting the way as thought leaders. There’s no silver bullet but sustainability is achieved by focusing on multiple small details all combined. And our customers collaborate with us to create sustainable solutions.”

sustainability in yachting

In short, the track becomes more defined with each passing year and the road is taking shape, heading in the right direction. Having spoken about and emphasized once again the importance of sustainability at the Monaco Yacht Show, is proof of how initiatives like this are increasingly involving the major shipyards, which are the most important players in this epochal change in the yachting sector.

A strong signal, as Robert van Tol points out in conclusion “Our aim with the Conference was to show that the industry is really making progress in this area of sustainability, and to inform the media and the wider public about all of the new developments that are going on in the background both with existing and established builders and suppliers but also with new companies that are innovating in this sector and attracting investment in this sector ”.

Francesco Paskowski designs the new Baglietto T60

A new superyacht is making its way into the world of yacht design and it could only be signed by Francesco Paskowski. The T60 is Baglietto’s latest addition, launched during the recent Monaco Yacht Show 2022, and represents the natural evolution of the T52 and the seagull brand’s traditional line. The new 60-metre, 1,000 GT project features soft lines reinterpreted in a contemporary key, made more fluid by the lightened side powers that merge into the structure of the ceiling, appearing almost suspended. The slender effect is enhanced by the black glass strip that incorporates the portholes, a recognizable feature of all the latest Baglietto yachts.

Mr. Paskowski has succeeded in maintaining a consistent style while completely overhauling the layout of the yacht: the distinction between open and closed, between sea and land, between inside and outside is no longer perceived. The large, full-height windows generate airy spaces in harmony with the sea all around, thanks to the possibility of disappearing entirely: the saloon and upper deck open up to open-air life, transforming into more formal spaces in the evening while maintaining a continuous connection with the seascape. It is precisely the creation of fluid environments that is the design feature of the Baglietto T60, which has been designed so that guests can enjoy a single space open to socializing and the sea.

Baglietto T60 : Suite and accomodation

The owner’s suite is the beating heart of the main deck. It is accessed from a midship lobby via a glass lift. The spacious room has a sleeping area with a private head, a sitting area and a small terrace that can also be used while underway. For the more discerning owner, there is also the option of converting the entire upper deck into a true Owner’s deck, with a custom-made configuration.

Guests can stay in four cabins, two VIPs and two guests, located on the lower deck, while forward on the same deck is the crew area with six cabins for 11 crew; the captain’s room is on the upper deck, behind the helm station.

Interconnected spaces

Baglietto T60 swimming pool

The 60-square-metre beach lounge areas with a marble swimming pool at water level are naturally integrated with the main saloon and the bar and dining area, connected by a neoclassical staircase.

The entire under lower deck is given over to technical spaces and amidships is a haute cuisine kitchen; the bow accommodates a touch and go landing strip for the helicopter.

The upper deck once again offers a lounge and dining area that can be fully opened up thanks to large windows on three sides; the sundeck is enriched with a Jacuzzi for maximum sea-view comfort.

Lastly, the garage forward of the main deck is designed to accommodate a 23” tender together with two jet skis and a rescue tender. The Baglietto T60 will be equipped with two CAT C32 Acert engines capable of guaranteeing a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. Upon request, the boat can also be equipped with hybrid propulsion.

With the new X30 Villa, Extra Yachts not only launches a new line of motor catamarans but definitively revolutionizes the market for large-sized multihulls, finally managing to effectively unite this market with that of superyachts.

This is an exercise that clearly has countless advantages but which, until the arrival of the X30 Villa, had limited itself to producing a series of yachts that, if other yards don’t mind me saying so, were limited to “imitating” the design of large sailing catamarans (obviously eliminating the mast), without however managing to find its own way, i.e. a design style dedicated and functional to motor yachts.

With this new model Extra Yachts, the Isa brand dedicated to building boats that can guarantee a more immersive contact with the marine environment, succeeds in fact in combining the liveability of a multi-level villa with the efficiency of a catamaran.

The exterior design is unmistakable and retains the shipyard’s DNA, based on the extensive use of panoramic glass, the presence of large social areas and an open stern that facilitates access to the sea.

The X30 Villa features a huge aft cockpit, which can be configured in any way through the use of freestanding furniture. This area is protected by a glass balustrade that does not obstruct the view. The submersible bridge, when aligned with the side platforms, also creates a very large beach club that, while allowing direct contact with the sea, also supports a tender of over 5 metres as well as other water toys.

A special feature of the layout is that the VIP cabins have direct access to the transom to enjoy the sea without having to cross the interior.

The main deck of the X30 Villa features very high ceilings and large panoramic windows to maximise external views while letting natural light flood the interior. The layout is divided into convivial areas on different levels, allowing for a break in continuity. One of the options is an open floor plan that includes a main salon, a library corner, a bar and an open kitchen, which casually flow into each other, dominated by the raised helm station and the observatory.

The interior is characterised by special architectural solutions such as the geometry of the ceiling that extends outwards at the top aft to create the illusion of a much larger convivial area with the saloon doors open. Freestanding furniture and accessories on the aft cockpit have been chosen to further amplify the interior atmosphere of this outdoor area.

Urban details combine with earthy materials in a softer visual language. The winding walls flow seamlessly into uprights and are finished with textured plaster. Polished concrete panels are complemented by stone window tops creating contrasts with matt metal and walnut furniture. Raised skylights flood the desaturated oak parquet flooring with areas of carpet and simulated concrete for a warm yet industrial look.

The master cabin is a true masterpiece of innovation. Conceived as a private destination in which to spend time in an idyllic setting, it features a relaxation area with sofas and a sleeping area positioned amidships, while the head with a private spa is located on a lower level, divided between the port and starboard hulls.

Nestled forward between the two hulls, the owner’s stateroom’s sea-view terrace can be lowered to offer exceptional views while maintaining maximum privacy. Glass doors can close the terrace to offer protection from wind, noise and weather.

We are very familiar with the unmistakable signature of Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tech, but this time, for the new Rosetti RSY 40m Explorer, the yard wanted to go even further, entrusting the interiors to Luxury Living Group. This is a leading company in the design, production and distribution of luxury furniture for brands such as: Versace, Dolce&Gabbana, Trussardi, Bentley Motors and Bugatti, as well as their own Luxence Luxury Living brand.

The collaboration with Luxury Living Group stems from the desire to present a project like that of the 40m EXP in a different way, already proposing an elegant and modern furnishing solution developed with a company that has made her flagship. The 40m EXP gives us the opportunity to explore some features already glimpsed in the 38m EXP and to offer them in different solutions also on the interiors, with a suggestion of customization that can clearly be modulated on the customer’s needs” said Andrea Giora, Sales & RSY Marketing Director.

RSY 40m Exp

Starting from M / Y Emocean, Eng. Cutolo he designed a yacht of 40 meters in steel and aluminum with powerful and rigorous lines, intended for long voyages. The four decks are flooded with natural light that enters abundantly through the large windows, while the large outdoor and indoor spaces are designed to interact with each other and ensure both social life and the privacy of guests.

The 40m EXP allowed us to reinterpret and refine “Emocean” by adding features and solutions that the spaces of the 38m did not allow us.», said Mr. Cutolo.

Main Saloon

The interiors of the Rosetti RSY 40m Explorer, created by Luxury Living Group, were chosen on the basis of one key word: coherence. The furnishings have been selected from all the LLG collections and, together with the materials, create different tones, brightness and contrasts depending on the environment and the destination of use. The predominant colours on board are neutral with a few touches of brighter colours to warm up the ambience.

The ceiling of the main saloon features a mirror, a functional element as well as a decorative one. In fact, it accentuates the brightness of the room together with the ‘cloud’ white of the walls, the sofa and the Carrara marble table. These cooler colours are contrasted by the metal finishes also present in many other elements of the yacht.

RSY 40m Explorer suite armatoriale

The owner’s suite has a private balcony and the tones are muted to create a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The colours used, in fact, range from the neutrality of taupe, to warm splashes of cognac and blue. A sculptural movement starts from the head of the bed and reaches up to the ceiling, while dark wood vanities and an iconic Kingston armchair by Bentley Home complete the décor.

The search for contrast between neutral tones and colour continued in the bridge deck saloon. In addition to the same decorations and accessories as the main saloon, is a modular sofa from the Trussardi Casa line, coloured with blue touches to match the D&G Casa armchairs, also in the same colour.

RSY 40m Explorer esterno

Finally, the Bridge deck, in its outdoor declination, features furniture from the Stiletto line by Versace Home presented at the Salone del Mobile 2022 and decorated with a Jungle pattern.

It is a pleasure to collaborate with a young shipyard full of potential such as Rosetti Superyachts, which received important awards from the nautical world this year in London and last year in Cannes.

Luxury Living Group is a leader in the design, production and distribution of luxury furniture for some of the most important international brands.

We are aligned with the demands of a luxury market such as boating both for the quality and for the degree of customization of our products “, commented Andrea Gentilini, CEO Luxury Living Group.

Vanquish VQ115 Veloce is the new ultra-fast aluminium superyacht from the famous Dutch boatyard. At 35 metres long, she owes her genesis to a heated discussion between a regular client and Tom Steentjes, the famous founder of Vanquish Yachts. The original plans were to build a VQ90, but the owner soon added an extra cabin, a dining area on the lower deck and two garages, taking the project to a much larger size.

Vanquish VQ115

But despite her size, the VQ115 Veloce doesn’t give up her racer soul, even though she continues to offer the comfort that distinguishes this yard. In fact, the motoryacht is fitted with three MTU-Rolls-Royce 2650 engines, the largest available, which will allow it to reach a maximum speed of over 50 knots.

Studio Delta in Holland, given the size and speed of the yacht, had to develop deflectors on the hull to direct splash towards the stern, while increasing comfort and performance. Two gyroscopic stabilizers will ensure comfortable cruising even at high speeds.

Vanquish VQ115 piscina

The three engines will be arranged in a trapezium, leaving plenty of space aft for the garage, which will house a VQ16. The tender will be launched by a dedicated system and a hydraulic platform will facilitate access to the sea. A VQ11 jet ski will be housed in another garage to starboard, where there will also be a live bait tank, paddle boards, sea bobs and other water toys.

The foredeck features a relaxation and dining area and the sunbeds can be raised to create a saltwater Jacuzzi.

Vanquish VQ115 esterni

The exterior lines of the VQ115 Veloce are inspired by other Vanquish models. The interior has a futuristic style that echoes the exterior design. The furniture in the main saloon can be moved to suit different situations and there is also an office area with its own pantry and cocktail bar.

On the flybridge, matching floors create a feeling of continuity between the exterior and interior spaces.

On the lower deck there is a U-shaped galley and dining area as well as a room with a television and quality sound system. The owner can sleep in his full-beam master suite, while the others on board will have a VIP cabin and a guest cabin, each with private head.

The VQ115 Veloce will be delivered to the Hamptons in 2022 and other owners have already shown great interest in this new and very special model.

The Perini Navi Caoz 14, formerly known as Selene and Parsifal IV, is a 56-metre long sailing superyacht that won the “Best refit” category for the “Vitters yacht G2” at the 2019 World Supeyacht Awards.

Today, in spite of her already undisputed beauty, thanks to the passion of her lucky owner and the intervention of Nauta design, she has undergone a deep stylistic restyling, meant to make her more adherent to her new use.

We wanted to renovate the yacht, starting with a modern, warm, airy and welcoming interior,” explains the owner. “We immediately established a close relationship with Massimo Gino and Mario Pedol of Nauta Design. Their team understood very well what we wanted and interpreted our initial brief excellently”.

Two key words characterize the restyling of the Perini Navi Caoz 14: space and brightness. The owner wanted to open up the spaces both longitudinally, to ensure a deeper field of vision, and transversely, to obtain a full-beam saloon with views of the surrounding landscape from both sides. The Caoz 14 is intended for family use and, for this very reason, the new design had to convey feelings of harmony, tranquillity and lightness.

Perini Navi Caoz 14 navigazione
Nauta Design interpreted the requests and needs of the owner and family man by widening the perspectives, using a new colour palette and creating brighter, more functional spaces.
For example, the crew corridor on the port side of the saloon, together with the dark shades of the colours, created a feeling of isolation from the outside, as did the stairs, which were closed off by bulkheads. Nauta has therefore worked on these details to make the boat’s spaces more open and bright.

Our aim was to ‘open up’ the spaces and bring the beauty of the natural environment into the yacht,” says Mario Pedol, co-founder of the Milan-based Nauta Design studio. “We therefore worked to eliminate structures and obstacles that blocked the view and complicated interior movements”.

New spaces for the Caoz 14

As mentioned above, the crew corridor on the left has been eliminated and the staircase has been redesigned, with suspended steps inserted on a central support to ensure greater visual continuity.

Caoz 14 salone
The forward section of the saloon is now used as a relaxation area, less formal and also suitable as a play area for children, with a TV lounge and extendable table.
A glass panel has been installed between this latter area and the Perini Navi Caoz 14’s helm station to give a sense of continuity and can be darkened if necessary.
The old hinged doors have been replaced with automatic sliding glass doors, which are more comfortable and help to create a brighter environment.

The new colour palette of the Caoz 14

The good aesthetic taste of the owner’s wife has been transposed by the studio into the furniture and fabrics. These include Kashtall carpets, Dedon outdoor seating, an Eames armchair and a Vitra ottoman in the main saloon. The colour palette varies from light oak tones to bright white lacquer floors.

The study of ergonomics, service routes and their functionality also played an important role in Nauta’s work. The aim was maximum comfort on board, to meet the owner’s requirements who wanted plenty of space for books, art objects and other collections,” says Mr. Pedol. This part of the work involved creating niches, shelves and other storage spaces, both open and closed”.

Some of the furniture on the Perini Navi Caoz 14 is transformable or convertible to suit different situations, such as the dining table.

Nauta collaborated with Cantalupi to create the lighting system and everything can be controlled through domotics. Particular attention has also been paid to the lamps, made by some famous design houses such as Fontana Arte, Oluce and Artemide.

The other areas of the Caoz 14

Caoz 14 timoneria

The owner wanted the service and crew areas to undergo the same renovation. A sofa was added to the helm station so that guests could also enjoy the cruising experience on the Perini Navi Caoz 14. The previous aft cockpit furniture was replaced with Teak sofas and tables.

The refitting work was carried out in only six months, despite restrictions from Covid-19, in Genoa by MMC Allestimenti.

The owners are very satisfied with the final result. For our part, we are grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute with our experience to the refit of the main deck of the CAOZ 14 and we are grateful to the owners for their very important participation in the design work, with their choices and numerous suggestions – concludes Mr. Pedol We wish the owner and his family ‘fair wind’ for their cruises on board the new CAOZ 14”.
