Grand ceremony for the launching of M/Y ANJELIF, the brand-new Columbus 50-metre custom superyacht that, built entirely in aluminium, has been designed for a highly demanding and experienced owner.

This is a decidedly innovative superyacht and not only because of its hybrid, diesel-electric propulsion.

This superyacht, in fact, makes use of two distinct and highly advanced technologies: one through the application of cold plasma for the sanitization of air coming from outside and used both for ventilation and air conditioning;

the other one dedicated to room sanitization at preset intervals to ensure daily safety.

Exteriors and interiors are by Marco Casali of Too-Design while the engineering is by the Palumbo Superyachts team. The interior design has been rigorously developed with natural and ecological materials and includes a gym on the main deck, a sauna, massage room.

The swimming pool in the transom with exposed teak finish is of very scenic effect, while a second Jacuzzi is located on the top deck.

Columbus Custom 50m M:Y Anjelif aerial view

At the bow, we find a functional zone complete with sunbathing area and a touch & go helicopter docking platform which can be eventually transformed into an open-air cinema.

The layout includes 4 decks, with the master cabin positioned on the main deck forward and 4 double cabins below deck. The crew is made up of 11 members accommodated in 7 cabins.

Columbus Custom 50m has a 499 GT gross tonnage and can reach a maximum speed of 20 knots with a range of 3000 nautical miles at 12 knots. The diesel engine system includes 2 x MTU 16V 2000 M96L of 1939 kW each, while 2 x 175 kW Kohler generators make up for the electric one.

The hybrid system provides for the possibility of using two electric motors in diesel-electric propulsion with a power of 100 kW each for a speed of approximately 9 knots. The electric motors coupled with the propulsion motors, can in turn be used as shaft generators, allowing navigation with the gen-sets off.

Columbus Custom 50m will have her world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023.

The leading players in boating: Giorgio Casareto

Behind the shining world of yachting, which many tend to see only as an icon of luxury, lies the hard work of many people who have contributed to making this sector unique and inimitable over the years. One of these people is undoubtedly Giorgo Casareto, Director of Marina di Varazze (and more), who in over fifty years of life has dedicated time, talent and dedication to the boating industry with the rare ability to always succeed in putting himself on the line and with the added value of having really started from the bottom to rise to the highest levels. A whole life dedicated to the world of the sea, which we wanted to collect and bear witness to in this video in which the Editor-in-Chief of The International Yachting Media Luca D’Ambrosio interviews Giorgio Casareto.

Our chat with Casareto goes back a long way, to the very origins of his passion for the sea, which began at the tender age of five when he went out with his parents on a small sailing boat. Later, with the purchase of a larger boat, Mr. Casareto began to undertake longer navigations, such as a tour of Corsica or a voyage to Barcelona: a love that became work when Giorgio was first employed in a small boatyard as a worker and then at Azimut where he still works today. The Marina di Varazze director has very vivid memories of his apprenticeship, which are also fun to listen to, such as his first job scraping the hull of a boat that was then immediately dismantled.

Giorgio Casareto“An incredible adventure began at Azimut, one that I would never have imagined would have reached its current goals,” says Giorgio Casareto in our video interview. “I went from working as a factory worker to after-sales and sales, until I was asked to set up the new Savona office, which I ran until 2008. After that I moved to the historic Avigliana plant, until 2011, when a new path began in Marina di Varazze, where they needed a person to take over the management of the company”.

In short, a story that starts with a humble job and ends with great professional satisfaction. This is why Giorgio Casareto’s advice to young people who would like to enter the boating sector is to “really believe in it”. In fact, he explains, “many young people with a passion for the sea can achieve extraordinary results, but my advice is always to start from the bottom: even if you have a respectable school education, getting to know this sector starting from the lower levels helps a lot to learn how to manage it”.

But we don’t want to anticipate anything else about the interview, so we invite you to watch the video, where you can get to know Giorgio Casareto not only from a professional point of view but also from a human one; that is, the side made up of memories and anecdotes from which there is always something to learn.

Codecasa 56, the construction of the MY LEGACY

Superyachts represent the quintessence of the art of construction, or rather man’s ability to go beyond his limits to create unique and inimitable works of art that are destined to leave an indelible mark on history.
Very often, however, what remains is “only” the finished masterpiece, which, yes, symbolises the great work that led to this creation, but which only partly conveys the complexity and effort involved.
Today, however, with the video that Codecasa shipyards have produced, we have the opportunity to condense the three years that led to the launch of the superyacht MY LEGACY into just three minutes.

Watching the video that summarises the construction of the Codecasa 56 helps us to understand the immense effort and great skill required to build a boat like this.

Codecasa 56

The video takes us on a discovery of the construction from the earliest stages, from the first welds which, begun in October 2018, determined the framework of this superyacht. An amazing time lapse speeds up the time, which, fittingly, is only interrupted to illustrate the beautiful images of the more “human” phases of the construction itself.

We then move on to the transfer of the finished hull to Viareggio, the design of the interiors, another moment of refined construction skill, preceding the exciting moment of the launch, which took place last June.

And this is how a three-year journey is made which, condensed into just three minutes, pays tribute to the work of all the people who contributed to making the Codecasa 56.

Everyone has seen Project JAP on the Kiel channel, a mastodon taking shape and presenting its credentials to the public very well.

Project JAG, a superyacht almost 18 meters wide, hit the water of the Baltic Sea for the first time last June 22nd. The launch, in Lürssen typical old-fashioned style, was carried out by sliding a raw, unadorned JAG off the rails at the Rendsburg shipyard in Germany.

JAG

The JAG’S construction project is being carried out under the supervision of Moran Yacht & Ship, which in turn has a”a long-standing relationship with the customer”. 122 meters long, JAG will replace the “old” 96-meter yacht designed by Lürssen and in the possession of the owner, who decided to take this further step by opting for a very substantial “upgrade” .

JAG’s captain

Captain of JAG will be Kyle Fultz. A reiterated assignment for Fultz who, including the JAG, together with a crew of 39, is set to captain the third of the Lürssen yachts owned by the US owner. The JAG will accommodate up to 20 guests on board and has 11 cabins.

All-Italian exterior design

JAG’ exterior design was entrusted to Nuvolari Lenard, the Venetian studio that has overseen dozens of yachts and superyachts and is the result of a partnership between nautical architect Carlo Nuvolari and renowned designer Dan Lenard. The boat’s sleek forms and sharp geometries, although minimally revealed as the boat is in its current state, in no way detract from its idea of elegance and “harmonious proportions”.

British interiors

Interiors, instead, are by Reymond Langton, the design studio based in Bath, Somerset. Lürssen has defined them as  «a bespoke tribute to the lifestyle of JAG’s owner”.

JAG’S bowsprit is sharp and piqued on the horizon, recalling those mounted on the ships of the past, as if it wanted to face the sea armed in a determined protagonism. It does so with good reason, because the JAG project had already attracted the attention of the press in 2019, when Lürssen announced its sale at the Monaco Yacht Show. JAG

BERING B77 VERONIKA WAS LAUNCHED IN ANTALYA

Veronika, the 23.99-metre Bering B77 explorer, was launched at the Bering Yachts facility in Turkey. This is the first of four launches in the Antalya Free Zone planned by Bering Yachts for 2021, including the launch of a Bering 70, Bering 92 and Bering 76 in the second half of the year.

As a semi-custom project, Veronika has been conceived as the perfect long-range voyager with enough power, supplies and entertainment for a family of intrepid travelers.

Designed in-house by Bering, this steel-hulled yacht blends a classic exterior with the most up-to-date specifications. Inside, the three-decked Veronika is roomy enough to accommodate six guests and up to four crew, although she can also be sailed shorthanded.

VERONIKA BERING B77 EXPLORER

With a massive 170 GT of volume, she outperforms most other yacht brands below 24 metres.
The launch of the heavy displacement B77 was facilitated by the brand new 560-tonne capacity travel lift provided by the Antalya Free Zone marina. For launching bigger vessels there are also completely new cranes and travel lifts up to 2,000 tonnes, along with dedicated new hangars for superyacht construction and refit projects.

“With this 77 footer we are opening a new chapter of compact cruisers,” says Alexei Mikhailov, Bering Yachts’ founder and director: “She may not be the longest yacht in the marinas, but you just have to look at the specs to understand her capabilities. Her communications are just one example: Veronika has two satellite Internet antennas and all the systems are doubled up so she will never be without sat comms. This is a yacht you can rely on”.

Veronika will undergo local sea trials before transferring to Australia to start high-latitude exploration cruising.

Magazzù Targa 45: a revolutionary luxury chase boat https://www.superyachts.news/magazzu-targa-45/ https://www.superyachts.news/magazzu-targa-45/#respond Mon, 05 Apr 2021 10:24:13 +0000 https://www.superyachts.news/magazzu-targa-45/ Elegant, innovative and loudly cheeky, the Magazzù Targa 45 welcomes us on board with the American flag hoisted on the hard-top, which in this model with a clear automotive imprint, forms a whole with the pilot-house, the distinctive feature of this revolutionary boat that takes the best from the luxury maxi-rib to offer the comfort of a five-star chase boat. Elegant, innovative and loudly cheeky, the Magazzù Targa 45 welcomes us on board with the American flag hoisted on the hard-top, which in this model with a clear automotive imprint, forms a whole with the pilot-house, the distinctive feature of this revolutionary boat that takes the best from the luxury maxi-rib to offer the comfort of a five-star chase boat.

After having sold the very first model in the United States, the prestigious Italian shipyard has launched a continental preview of the Targa 45, the progenitor of the new line of boats, which joins the famous MX range, and that The International Yachting Media have had the privilege of testing at sea, in absolute exclusivity.

Exteriors: the pilot-house of Magazzù Targa 45

Never to this extent Magazzù has made reference to the aesthetic paradigms of the automotive industry. The Targa 45, in fact, feature futuristic and sporty lines, similar to a supercar’s ones, which reach their maximum expression in the pilot house, positioned amidships.

Magazzu Targa 45

However, the Italian shipyard, specialized in the construction of magnificient Maxi Ribs, not only focuses on layout but also pays particular attention to function. Not surprisingly, the deck plan immediately suggests an important aspect of this boat; on board the Targa 45, beauty and comfort are two sides of the same coin.

magazzu-targa-45-cockpitThe pilot house, accessible through two sliding glass doors, guarantees unparalleled driving comfort. Efficiently protected against external agents without however creating any “isolation effect”, it features a huge windscreen, two side and a rear glass door as well as an opening hard top, providing the pilot with an extraordinarily comprehensive panoramic view and a direct contact with the sea.

Heading out of the enclosed cockpit, we sit aft, where a vast outdoor dinette, sheltered by the pilot house, invites us to take a seat on the large U-shaped sofa that surrounds a genuinely comfortable dining table. While, at the stern, the spaces are devoted to conviviality, the bow is mainly dedicated to relaxation, offering a large sundeck that can accommodate two people in total comfort.

Movement around the deck is facilitated by the wide side-decks that join the cockpit and the solarium, this making the Targa 45 a fully-fledged walk-around boat. Furthermore, the presence of sophisticated courtesy ligths along the synthetic teak walkway give moments of freedom in the open air even after sunset.

Interiors complete with every comfort and a super owner’s suite

DinetteAccess to the sleeping quarters is through the pilot house, on the left of the steering console. Below deck, our expectations in terms of attention to detail and quality of materials, two categorial imperatives at Magazzù, do not disappoint. The spaces are abundantly livable, furnishings are simply flawless and the dinette is really welcoming, equipped with a wide worktop on the left and a convertible corner sofa on the starboard side.

Forward, on the left, the shower-equipped head is separated from the rest of the interiors and offers good headroom.

Continuing forward, we enter the master cabin, equipped with a king-sized bed and made particularly bright by two hatches on the ceiling; featuring surprisingly unsuspected headroom, this large master suite is perfect for medium- and long-range cruising.

Sea trial: racing performances and impressive stability

In Palermo, it is a beautiful early-autumn day. The sea is slightly rough but the east wind seems not to disturb the Targa 45 which, as soon as we leave the port and speed up, rises from the waves and, supported by the high-performance stepped hull that is the trademark of all Magazzù boats, she gets up on plane effortlessly at around 15 knots.

speedDespite a length of over 13 meters, this well-balanced Maxi Rib with almost perfect waterlines keeps the bow parallel to the water surface with a trim that, even at 4,000 rpm, is always stable and safe.

The Targa 45 we’re testing is powered by three Mercury Verado engines, 400HP each. This engine option promises pleasure, power and exciting performance, without upsetting the overall balance of the boat.

We have fun with turns and counter-turns, first soft then more decided but the Targa 45 remains glued on its track and has no intention of letting go.

Magazzu Targa 45

No bumps, no vibrations. All this while traveling just under 30 knots, not at a walking pace. The convenience of staying in the helm station, protected and with an impeccable view, deserves a special mention: the feeling of comfort is that of a yacht, the competitive emotion is that which only a maxi-rib can transmit, always protected from the elements.

Let’s go back to the rev counter, we decide to drive it crazy up to the limit, so we pull down the throttles and push up to 50 knots on the straight. The acceleration is excellent, the progression is crazy, the seakeeping is absolutely perfect. We run over 6,000 rpm, we have exceeded 52 knots and, not satiated, we dare up to 6,300 rpm: top speed 55.3 knots (64 mph), amazing!

In conclusion, the Magazzù Targa 45 has really amazed us, both in terms of performance and comfort on board and, since it’s only the first of a long series, we can’t wait to test the next Targa: this is just the beginning …

A true floating oasis inspired by the idea of well-being and complete independence from the rest of the world.

My Rebecca Oasis 40 M boasts the best of technological innovation currently available on the market. An added value in terms of functionality, safety and comfort signed by CMC Marine.

cmc-marine-benetti-oasis-by-night

“Oasis 40 M is a revolutionary boat and being part of such an innovative project is a source of pride for CMC Marine, which has always collaborated with the best international shipyards – explains Alessandro Cappiello, CEO of the company – In this case, working with Benetti was involving because the boat is not only equipped with our Stabilis Electra LR90 fin stabilizers and bow thrusters but also has a special control panel for simultaneous control of all CMC systems onboard, including fin stabilizers, rudders and bow thrusters”. The following video shows the sea trial of the Oasis 40M sailing with CMC fins:

Once again, CMC Marine gives the owner the possibility to integrate more stabilisation systems: the combined use of fins, bow thrusters and intruders controlled by a single platform is the hallmark of CMC Marine, which has held a fixed course towards the future for 15 years.

In 40 meters of length, Rebecca boasts a spectacular multifunction beach area: 90 square meters in direct contact with the sea, just a few centimeters from the water level. The exterior lines are designed by the famous UK firm RWD while the interiors are by the New York firm Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture which, at its debut in the yachting world, introduces new civil architecture-inspired solutions.

Made in fiberglass and powered by twin MAN V12 engines,cmc-marine-benetti-oasis-interiors the Oasis 40M has four decks, with 5 cabins for 10 guests and 4 cabins for 7 crew members included the comfy Captain’s cabin. The yacht can reach a top speed of 18 knots. At 11 knots it consumes just over 100 l/h, with a range greater than the necessary to cross the Atlantic.

With the Oasis 40M, Benetti breaks the mold of the superyachts world, while maintaining the Made in Italy tradition and enhancing technology and cruising comfort. All thanks to the collaboration with CMC Marine, synonymous with innovation and reliability.

Two minutes and eleven seconds of pure emotions. Spectacular images that describe the Marina Porto Antico in all its beauty. A clip that fully illustrates the strategic geographical location of one among the most important recreational ports in Liguria, Italy.

Made by BLive Communication, a prestigious agency specialized in the yachting and luxury sectors, the video shows the Marina Porto Antico in its best light. The marina is famous all over the Mediterranean for its location in the beating heart of Genoa, just opposite the historic center and just a few miles from the most beautiful and exclusive seaside resorts of the region, such as San Fruttuoso, Portofino and the fishing villages of Cinque Terre.

A perfect combination of territorial enhancement and efficient port services, Marina Porto Antico offers 270 berths for boats from 10 to 75 meters in length, 10,000 square meters of squares and two covered parkings seven days a week.

Until a few years ago, from a communicative point of view, must attention was paid to the services that marinas could offer – explains Andrea Barbagelata, President of Marina Porto Antico – Today, instead, services are taken for granted and the marina is considered as a gateway to the surrounding territory. As a result, the boat is used not only to sail but also to explore the surrounding landscape”.

Through the news posted on their Facebook page, the articles published on the marina’s website and some elegant brochures, the staff of Marina Porto Antico underlies the opportunity for the guests to visit what surrounds the marina: from the city center with its many cultural and leisure attractions, including the adjacent Aquarium of Genoa, to the Ligurian hinterland, with its gorgeous nature and pristine views, passing through the cycle paths of the Apennines, the Antola Park and the Beigua Park.

” From a maritime point of view, as you can see in the video, our visitors can explore many nearby and enchanting villages. Mooring their boat in our marina all year round, they have the opportunity to join the numerous local events that take place in the various seasons, including the Fish Festival held in spring in Camogli or the Fire Festival in Recco in September “.

As a recreational port focused on the concept of territoriality, the marina strongly advises the visitors to try or rediscover the traditional Ligurian cuisine with its delicious fish recipes.

Not surprisingly, the marina is surrounded by many fish markets, with the fleet of fishing boats landing directly at the municipal dock and the well-known zero-kilomter Fish Market. “Of course, our marina also offers a wide selection of restaurants and bars that also offer local dishes”.

In short, mooring at Marina Porto Antico “means not only entrusting your boat to our skilled staff – concludes Andrea Barbagelata – but also using it as a base or, if you prefer, a second home overlooking both the sea and the hinterland”.

Baglietto: the historic Italian shipyard renews its team and presents the new T52

In a remote press conference, as usual at Covid times, and a very evocative YouTube video titled Baglietto Wave, Baglietto relaunches its historic brand through the inclusion of new professional figures that will contribute to make the Italian shipyard even more competitive in the constantly changing superyachts market, where new technologies and sustainable development play an increasingly important role.

This is the mission of the new Baglietto, which therefore embarks on a new project which, in early 2021, will lead to the merger of the two Gavio family’s nautical brands: Baglietto and CCN. This absolutely important long-range investment confirms Gavio’s passion and unchanged interest into the yachting sector.

Diego Michele Deprati
Diego Michele Deprati, Ceo of Baglietto

To pursue such an ambitious goal, the majority stakeholder has chosen a much-trusted person, 57-year-old Diego Michele Deprati, who will become Baglietto’s new CEO.

Boasting a vast experience in the superyacht sector, Deprati had already led Baglietto through the brand acquisition and start-up by the Gavio Group, and then taken into his hands the relaunch of the CCN brand. His appointment to this new position was, therefore, a natural choice, ensuring “revolution and continuity” at the same time.

Deprati will be able to rely on an outstanding team at a national and international level: Fabio Ermetto will be the Chief Commercial Officer, Luca Ghirlanda will head Operations, and Guido Penco will be the Technical Director

56 years old, naval engineer and university teacher with over 40 years of experience in the industry, 21 of which spent at Baglietto, Mr. Penco has designed all the Baglietto yachts of the last 20 years. He is entrusted with the important task of guiding the Research & Development Department towards an eco-friendly approach which can make use of 100% hybrid propulsion options. Indeed, many new Baglietto models – including the ones from the most performing lines – will be fitted with standard hybrid propulsion.

The 20-year experience of Luca Ghirlanda, 42, has been gained at some of the most important Italian shipyards: first, Benetti, where he worked as Chief Archiect; then, Sanlorenzo, where he held the position of Megayacht Department Production Manager. Engineer Ghirlanda will supervise the excellent of the Baglietto product quality in every single production phase, in compliance with the deadlines and contractual deliveries laid down.

Fabio Ermetto
Fabio Ermetto, Chief Commercial Officer at Baglietto

49-year-old Fabio Ermetto graduated in naval engineering in the Netherlands. He is a widely recognised and esteemed professional in international boating. He held important positions both in Italy – as CCO at Benetti, where he worked for 10 years, also as the Chairperson of Fraser Yachts – and abroad, where, for 7 years, he was Heesen’s Sales & Marketing Director. In 2017 he became Camper&Nicholsons’ CCO.

“I am very much looking forward to this new challenge – was the new CCO’s statement – Baglietto is a brand that needs no introduction, its history speaks for itself, and I can only be honoured by the trust the Company has placed in me. Our development plans are ambitious, and I am ready to contribute to the growth of this iconic brand”.

Fabio Ermetto will have the task of developing a new product range with the aim of confirming the brand among the most advanced ones in terms of innovation and technology. Baglietto official designer Francesco Paszkowski, who has been interpreting the unique soul and style of the brand since over 20 years, will accompany the shipyard in this path.

In addition to the Baglietto T52 (Tline), also the Fast and Superfast performing lines

Baglietto T52

The brand will be represented by 3 lines: a more “traditional” displacement line (TLine), and two lines of fast, high-performing, extremely innovative yachts (Fast and Superfast).

The displacement TLine, in steel and aluminium, will include models ranging between 52 m and 65 m in length. The shipyard has already sold the first Baglietto T52 unit, and a second one is currently being built on speculation and expected to be ready for delivery in spring 2023.

The Baglietto T52 is a yacht that draws inspiration from Baglietto’s tradition – preserving its most classical stylistic features – but reinterprets it in a modern, contemporary key.

In particular, this vessel – below 500 GT – is characterised by significant design innovations both forward and aft. The stern has been completely restyled and is now open, with a beach club on 3 different levels.

The large pool can be “hidden” by an original up/down moving flooring system. Inside, the floor-to-ceiling glazing of the salon ensures a constant contact with the sea even when living indoors. Definitely worth a special mention is the sky lounge on the upper deck, which can be opened on 3 sides, leaving the windows completely concealed.

At the bow, a retractable ladder directly connects the sun deck and the upper deck, making the latter a natural extension of the former. The yacht will be equipped with a standard hybrid propulsion system that will allow to choose a more efficient navigation mode, reducing both costs and environmental impact.

When cruising in electrical diesel mode, the T52 will have a range of up to 7,600 nm, and will be able to remain at anchor up to 10 hours relying on the batteries only. Her two MTU 16V2000M86 engines, however, will also allow her to reach quite an impressive maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 3,600 nm in traditional navigation mode.

The FAST and SUPERFAST aluminium lines include models between 40 m and 50 m in length. A 48 m FAST and a 50 m SUPERFAST units, the latter fitted with a water-jet propulsion system, are currently at an advanced design stage. Both models will be below 500 GT.

At a challenging historical time like the one we are going through right now, Baglietto has launched 4 units between 37 m and 54 m over the last 6 months. All were fully-custom projects with new, innovative platforms. Two contracts were also signed, one for a 42 m FAST aluminium yacht – also pencilled by Francesco Paszkowski Design – and one for the first 52 m steel & aluminium TLine yacht. Both vessels will be built for European owners.
