The new immense 75.50-meter superyachts Feadship Project 822 is about to be completed at the Dutch shipyard that specializes in building huge fully customizable vessels.

Spotted in all its entirety and majesty was the hull of Feadship’s latest addition, Project 822, which had not been heard from since September 2021 when the bare metal structure entered the Shipyard for assembly. Since then, Feadship’s secrecy has been exemplary; no one has been able to follow the progress of the work, shrouding this yacht more and more in mystery.

Now, ready to be tested and launched, Project 822 has emerged from dry dock at the Royal Van Lent shipyard onKaag Island, marking the third major launch of 2023, following the acclaimed 67.4-meter Feadship SIBELLE in March and the impressive 84.2-meter OBSIDIAN unveiled in April.

822

Project 822 is scheduled for delivery by the end of the year, and more details will be revealed by the Shipyard itself over the next few weeks at the official launch. The exterior design is by British firm RWD, which also collaborated on the interior design, with Seattle-based interior design firm “Susan Young Interiors.”

The naval architecture and engineering of the Feadship Project 822 yacht (where 822 is the hull number of the Royal Van Lent) is by the Dutch shipyard’s own De Voogt Naval Architects. The steel and aluminum hull is 75.7 meters long overall and has a beam of 13.6 meters,  the top deck has been mounted and the mast attached, and the boat will also be equipped with two shaftline engines. exit 822

The launch of the hybrid superyacht Obsidian last April has for sure marked the future of the Dutch shipyard, which is pursuing its goal of producing large “carbon neutral” vessels by 2030.

Feadship, a company specializing in the creation of pure custom supeyachts and recognized as one of the  world leaders in the industry, has been in business since 1949 but has much deeper roots reaching back nearly a century earlier.

With Project 822 another Feadship secret has been partially unvealed. While waiting to hear when this majestic and elegant superyacht will be launched we can appreciate its exterior design and the bespoke customizations that make this shipyard so special. feadship 822

Grand ceremony for the launching of M/Y ANJELIF, the brand-new Columbus 50-metre custom superyacht that, built entirely in aluminium, has been designed for a highly demanding and experienced owner.

This is a decidedly innovative superyacht and not only because of its hybrid, diesel-electric propulsion.

This superyacht, in fact, makes use of two distinct and highly advanced technologies: one through the application of cold plasma for the sanitization of air coming from outside and used both for ventilation and air conditioning;

the other one dedicated to room sanitization at preset intervals to ensure daily safety.

Exteriors and interiors are by Marco Casali of Too-Design while the engineering is by the Palumbo Superyachts team. The interior design has been rigorously developed with natural and ecological materials and includes a gym on the main deck, a sauna, massage room.

The swimming pool in the transom with exposed teak finish is of very scenic effect, while a second Jacuzzi is located on the top deck.

Columbus Custom 50m M:Y Anjelif aerial view

At the bow, we find a functional zone complete with sunbathing area and a touch & go helicopter docking platform which can be eventually transformed into an open-air cinema.

The layout includes 4 decks, with the master cabin positioned on the main deck forward and 4 double cabins below deck. The crew is made up of 11 members accommodated in 7 cabins.

Columbus Custom 50m has a 499 GT gross tonnage and can reach a maximum speed of 20 knots with a range of 3000 nautical miles at 12 knots. The diesel engine system includes 2 x MTU 16V 2000 M96L of 1939 kW each, while 2 x 175 kW Kohler generators make up for the electric one.

The hybrid system provides for the possibility of using two electric motors in diesel-electric propulsion with a power of 100 kW each for a speed of approximately 9 knots. The electric motors coupled with the propulsion motors, can in turn be used as shaft generators, allowing navigation with the gen-sets off.

Columbus Custom 50m will have her world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023.

Heesen has launched its first superyacht of 2023 at its facility in Oss, Holland: the Project Skyfall, which has been christened M/Y Ultra G. The newcomer inaugurates a year that promises to be exciting and busy for the shipyard and that kicks off just on this superyacht with intensive trials in the North Sea.

My Ultra G

MY Ultra G is the ultimate expression of the knowledge and experience gained in over forty years of shipbuilding to the finest Dutch quality standards: the same that, in the Nineties, lead to the construction of MY Obsession, the largest sport fishing yacht at the time, and MY Red Sapphire, which even overtook it. Both were somehow a source of inspiration for the Ultra G project.

The layout of MY Ultra G is conceived to welcome friends aboard for sociable fishing adventures while allowing the master apartment to maintain a necessary level of privacy, peace and quiet on the bridge deck with its private terrace.

A jacuzzi, large walk-in wardrobe and an ample bathroom with a central oval bath and separate shower stall provide all the home comforts.

Entertaining family and friends is the raison d’être of this superyacht. A custom wine fridge, with discrete sections at different temperatures, takes pride of place in the main saloon.

The media room, home to a Samsung The Wall screen 1814mm by 8063mm and an elegant games table on the main deck forward, is undoubtedly a real gem. The sundeck, with its infinity pool facing aft, is ideal for receptions and musical entertainments. Thirteen crew will be on hand to take care of ten guests, with discreet separate routing allowing them to seamlessly service every area of the yacht.

Canine guests are well taken care of too, thanks to a series of carefully thought-out details to make their life at sea as safe and stress-free as possible. Among several features the most notable is certainly the ‘relief area’, a self-flushing area of the side deck finished in synthetic grass, complete with sensors, cameras and sprinklers.

This bespoke luxury is the perfect complement to an ultra-technological and sophisticated propulsion system. MY Ultra G’s thunder will come from 22,000 horsepower generated by four MTU 20V 4000 engines, driving four Kongsberg S90 waterjets.

The outer engines, compliant with the latest Tier III environmental regulations, drive steerable jets, while the centre engines operate fixed booster units. With less back-pressure and a slightly higher power output, the centre engines will be used solely for the highest speeds. Waterjet drives lower the yacht’s draft to less than three metres and reduce vibration by 40 per cent compared with traditional shafts and propellers.

My Ultra G

Thanks to its lightweight aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form, complete with course fins, gyro stabilisers and interceptor trim plates, MY Ultra G will reach an extraordinary top speed of 37 knots in light load conditions.

Her efficient FDHF hull will also deliver a much smoother, flatter ride compared to a conventional semi-displacement shape, while its extra volume offers plenty of space for equipment and amenities. Three gyro-stabilisers will keep the yacht comfortable at low speeds.

Ultra G has finally hit the water and is now undergoing system commissioning testing before leaving Oss for intensive trials in the North Sea which will contribute to test to the full this incredible superyacht.

Ocean Alexander 28 Explorer: standing ovation at FLIBS.

Ocean Alexander ’s exquisite 37L, 35R and 30R luxury motor yachts commanded their own round of applause this October at FLIBS, but the special guest at the five-day nautical fest was the remarkable 28E. The “E” stands for Explorer – the third line that runs from 90 to 150 feet (27.7 to 45.7 meters) in its series behind the Revolution and Legend – and could not have been titled any more appropriately.

Ocean Alexander at flibsAn Explorer, by textbook definition, travels for the purpose of discovery. As defined in the eyes of the Taiwanese shipbuilder, its Explorer affords adventurists an opportunity of endless freedom to rove the countless unchartered coves around the furthest corners of the world.

Coincidentally, “one of those coves in one of those corners” Down Under in Australia hosted the southern hemisphere world premiere of the 28E at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show this past May. Although, seeing the line got its start and was originally incarnated in the fall of 2020 at FLIBS – to many, the Explorer is American at heart, and it was a “home sweet homecoming” to have her back on South Florida shores.

But no matter her nationality, the Ocean Alexander 28 Explorer left locals in awe, so much so, one particular attendee was impressed to the point of purchase. When the International Yachting Media team caught up with Sally Doleski at the Thursday evening VIP launch party, the vice president of marketing courteously confirmed that hull No. 3, the precise yacht we were dipping empanadas in cilantro sauce and sipping champagne in celebration of, was just sold.

Good news continued to flow from Doleski when she next mentioned we could expect to see the forth unit at the upcoming Miami Show. Then I heard the words, “Please, hop on board.” And with that, I excitedly obliged. The time arrived for my one-on-one with the brainchild behind naval architect Giuseppe Arrabito and design partner Evan K. Marshall, a name synonymous with Ocean Alexander.

The Ocean Alexander 28 Explorer Game Plan

sky loungeTheir game plan was to have a huge outdoor area with an array of amenities, paired with an equally large interior… all with the intention of creating a pleasurable experience for playful days in the bays and prolonged passages to the next port. So, once you understand the idea behind the plan, three clear-cut standouts on the 28E become evident: the versatility of an open aft deck; the all-around wow-factor found on the sky lounge level; and the heavenly panoramic seascape enveloping the entire interior from the gigantic glass panes.

To start, the expansive 300-square-foot space with fold-down starboard-side terrace delivers sun-seekers right up to the rippling surf surrounding the super-sized swim platform. And for friends and family members with the “sunbathing is boring” mindset, there’s a port side marine hoist to help lift and launch the water-sports toys to keep the high-energy set entertained. Plenty of storage possibilities were also incorporated into the layout, in order to keep all that adventure gear nearby.

The second standout could in fact be looked at, as the lifesaver of the party on those days when the stormy weather sets in. Lamentably, guests can’t be guaranteed good weather all the time, but they can be guaranteed a good (and dry) time by gathering on the enclosed sky lounge. What’s more, just outside the door, the penthouse-inspired sundeck is chock full of entertainment options. Not only is there a wet bar, barbeque grill, and Jacuzzi… the deck is equipped with a removable shade system ready to be used for any occasion, including those inclement invasions.

indoor diningLastly, when stepping into the contemporary styled saloon of light oaks and neutral tones with furnishings by the Italian Poltrona company, remarkably… each person’s “peaceful reaction to the serenity felt from the floor to ceiling windows” is actually the main attraction. And thanks to the signature vertical bow on the towering hull, the impressive vistas continue to captivate on the lower deck, which encompasses design aspects usually only designated for mega-yachts.
For example, volume has been increased to the point that, you can walk around the king-size island bed, ponder what to wear in the walk-in closet, and warm your feet on the heated marble floor in the stone-clad master head.

The moonshine master cabin

Yet, in addition to the aforementioned accouterments, the best view of all onboard the 28E might possibly be the nighttime moonshine through the clear roof panel and frameless side windows. Not only do you feel like a star in the master cabin, instead of counting the customary sheep to help you fall asleep – the 28 Explorer offers you the opportunity to count the shining stars twinkling above your head.Ocean alexander master stateroom

The exterior design is by Alberto Mancini, who had already worked on the Grande 36M, while the interior is by Achille Salvagni.

The distinctive feature of the Grande 26M is the Deck2Deck, a water-facing terrace resulting from the raising of the transom and inspired by the terrace on the line’s flagship.

The cockpit thus performs the dual function of lounge or dining area with walkaround table. The furnishings are convertible and do not obstruct the horizon view.

Grande 26M varo

Azimut Grande 26M is part of the yard’s new generation of Low Emission Yachts and is the first to adopt ZF’s new Pod 4600 propulsion system. The superstructure is built with extensive use of carbon fibre, resulting in a 30% lighter weight and, together with the propulsion system, reduces fuel consumption by up to 20% compared to other yachts of the same size.

Grande 26M will be on display during the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival 2022, the first of the boat show season.

At 37 metres long, this voyager yacht features a four-deck layout and is the result of a vision by Paolo Vitelli, founder and president of the Azimut Benetti Group, and designer Stefano Righini. Particularly interesting is the return to the use of steel, instead of fiberglass, to ensure higher standards of durability and sturdiness, which is an important quality for long-cruising yachts.

Benetti B.Yond cerimonia di lancio sera

I am happy to present one of the most innovative boats ever built – says Paolo Vitelli, Founder and President of the Azimut Benetti GroupEquipped with a hybrid system for long-range, environment-friendly cruising and featuring a four-deck layout in a length of just 37 metres, this is a dream come true for modern owners who want to cruise around the world with their family and friends. I wanted to image a record-breaking boat, and now here it is”.

Benetti B.Yond: how is she eco-friendly?

The environment-friendly nature of Benetti B.Yond includes the use of SCR catalytic filters, a technology already adopted for Euro 6D diesel engines in the automotive sector, which makes use of a liquid urea-based solution to control the gases. What’s more, on-board power consumption is optimized by Siemens Energy’s E-Mode Hybrid system, which provides for different usage profiles while reducing CO2 and NOx emissions to an extent never before seen in a yacht of this type. This latter system is based on an integrated Add On “crew friendly” architecture that relies on a traditional system to simplify management and allow switching from mechanical to electric propulsion, and vice versa, without the intervention of on-board experts.

B.Yond green

Four navigation modes are provided. In Eco Transfer mode the maximum speed is 9 knots, with a range of 8,200 miles, with only one engine running; consumption and CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 16% and NOx emissions by up to 80%. The Enhanched Comfort mode is of a diesel electric type, with only the gensets running, and the main engines switched off. In this case, a maximum speed of 7-8 knots is reached and on-board comfort is improved, reducing noise and vibrations. Extended range mode reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 10% and NOx emissions by up to 76% with generators off and main engines running; cruising range is 6,600 nm at a speed of 10 knots.

The most important mode, however, is Eco Cruise, which reduces any emissions by 100% by cruising in full electric and allowing access even in protected marine areas or where engine-powered navigation is forbidden. In this mode, the 300 Kw/h lithium battery pack available on board allows the boat to stay in Hotel Mode with the generators switched off. The autonomy at anchor with just the batteries is 8 hours during the day and 12 at night, while the recharge time is three hours.

Estimating an average annual use of 1,000 hours, of which 400 hours at sea and the remainder at anchor, a reduction in consumption and CO2 of up to 24% and a reduction in NOx of up to 85% can be achieved.

Design and interior/exterior layout

B.Yond sera

The lower deck houses the service area, with a walking wine cellar and a cold room that is not usually found on other yachts of a similar size, while the main deck is dedicated to the guest sleeping area, with four suites accessible from a panoramic lounge called “playroom”.

The living area is located on the upper deck and has a 360-degree view of the sea, while the dining area, located on the sundeck, has a pantry and an outdoor table, both protected by a hard top. The owner’s exclusive area is on the bridge deck. Privacy is ensured by two separate staircases, one for use by guests, the other by the crew.

This is the basic configuration, but the Benetti B.Yond has a flexible layout, managing to propose some variations. The main deck, in fact, can accommodate the owner’s cabin in place of the playroom and the bridge deck can have a panoramic veranda instead of the owner’s cabin.

prua

On the lower deck, a sixth guest cabin can be obtained by giving up the gym. The captain has two cabins at his disposal: one located near the helm station and one adjacent to the crew quarters; should he decide to use the first, the second could become a seventh guest cabin, increasing the already high number of possible guests on board.

The garage is large and can accommodate a 6.5-metre tender for the owner, a 4.2-metre rescue boat and two jet skis.

Pierluigi Ausonio’s P.L.A.N.A. studio designed the hull; the white steel hull, with an aluminium superstructure, is completed by stainless steel handrails, painted white and finished with a teak gunwale. Benetti architect Mauro Izzo handled the interior design, while Giorgetti, chosen directly by the shipyard, supervised the furnishings. The colour palette is that of natural colours, enhanced by touches of blue and contrasting with the white of the walls.

The launch of this pure 80ft racer marks another important milestone for us. We have broadened our range to get closer to meeting every need and lifestyle choice of our customers,” said Giovanni Pomati, CEO of the Nautor Group The market is always asking for something different, out of the box, and our ClubSwan Yachts range can offer a fresh, bold and innovative solution, setting the bar high. The CS80 is a pure racer but is also an incredible yacht for fast sailing, shorthanded sailing, and comfortable sports cruising”.

My SongThe ClubSwan 80 was built by Persico Marine, an international shipyard located in Nembro, Italy, which used state-of-the-art technology such as the Coriolis robot, normally used in the aerospace industry in carbon lamination. The boat’s construction method is the same as that used in the carbon ‘arm’ of the boats that compete in the famous America’s Cup.

Marcello Persico, CEO of Persico Marine: “The launch of a new boat is always a significant moment, in the case of the ClubSwan 80 we are particularly honoured by the trust placed in Persico Marine by the owner, a very experienced yachtsman, and Nautor’s Swan. This boat is built to the same standards we use for America’s Cup boats and IMOCA 60s engaged in the toughest ocean races such as The Ocean Race and Vendée Globe.”

The ClubSwan 80 is designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian, designer of all the ClubSwan Yacht projects. ““The ClubSwan Yacht division is growing, and I am very excited about the arrival of this new member of the family, which I’m sure will make a difference in the racing landscape,” said Juan K. “She is such an impressive boat and I can’t wait to see her on international race courses competing.”

In order to give the ClubSwan 80 lightness and power, the team built a 4.75-metre sloping keel, while at the same time managing to reduce the draft and allow the boat to land in most Mediterranean ports. The My Song team chose side appendages consisting of a rotating canard to increase upwind performance in light air, while also allowing tacking in tactical situations, common in Maxi races. What’s more, the bowsprit is retractable, ensuring safety upwind and extending to hoist the spinnaker and, as on the 36-footer, there are twin rudders.

The project My Song poppawas managed by Vittorio Volonté and involved engineer Giovanni Belgrano, designer Scott Ferguson, who worked on the rig, and Nauta Design for the interior.

“The ClubSwan 80 design answers a specific brief: a fast Maxi optimised to race in the Mediterranean as well as offering accommodation to enjoy life at sea and fun shorthanded sailing,” said Mario Pedol of Nauta Design. “We were called upon to manage, from a design point of view, the ‘second life’ of this racing machine: a super-fast and fun yacht also capable of cruising in comfort with a few modular superlight components, built to the highest technology by Persico Marine.”

ClubSwan 80 ‘My Song’ will take part in its first regatta from 4 to 10 September at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, while it will be possible to visit it in person at its world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show, from 28 September to 1 October.

The interiors are by the Ideaeitalia studio, while the exteriors were designed by architect Filippo Salvetti, who has thus managed to complete his third yacht.

As far as the interior design is concerned, the owner has chosen a classic mood, with dark and warm colours and strong contrasts. Noteworthy are the art déco-inspired curves and the sinusoidal staircase connecting the main deck to the lower deck. Everything was chosen and designed with the idea that the owner should feel right at home.

We will be able to admire the Ferretti Yachts 860 at the Cannes Yachting Festival next September, while the lucky ones will see her at the Ferretti Group’s Private Preview in Monte Carlo, after her owner has finished his cruise.

RIO is spread over four decks, the upper one of which is entirely dedicated to the owner. It is in fact here that the master cabin is located. The guests, on the other hand, can benefit from five cabins, two of which are VIP. One is located on the main deck in the bow, while the other is on the lower deck, where there are the other three cabins, in the stern.

The latest addition to the CRN range stands out for the distribution and quality of the spaces, with large and luminous indoor and outdoor living areas. The generous full-height windows on the main and owner decks guarantee constant direct contact with the sea.

CRN M/Y RIO will be unveiled in her world premiere at the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show next September. She will be cruising in the Mediterranean this summer and form October onwards in the Caribbean.
